It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing
of Ziggy on May 29th.
Ziggy was not an easy dog to find a home for.
He came to AABR as a stray from a shelter. As we started to learn more
about him, we found that he had the traits of a dog that probably had to
fend for himself for quite some time. He was friendly and a fun dog
with toys but was not use to being handled.
One of our experienced fosters took him in knowing
he had issues. He worked with him, and he did get better, but he
hadn't got to the point of being adoptable when he came down with medical
issues. Over the last few months, AABR's medical bills for Ziggy
exceeded $4000. We never gave up on him and more importantly to Ziggy,
his foster dad didn't either. Over the last
two weeks Ziggy was at the emergency hospital twice, fitted with and wore a
24 hour heart monitor, and given the best care possible. His foster
dad was with him when he passed and he will miss him dearly.
Adopt A Boxer Rescue is there for all kinds of boxers
and we don't give up on them... Even the hard ones. We have the best
volunteers of any rescue and our thoughts and hearts are with Ed and Ziggy
today. Please help AABR continue to help the
boxers by contributing towards AABR's medical bills for Ziggy and others.

Opie ( AKA Ziggy) has been doing well in his foster home. He needs a
home with a good leader as he can be a bit pushy. He was a stray so
will not go to a home with kids. He has gained some weight, and is on
allergy food after having some reactions to normal food. He has been
diagnosed with a boxer eye ulcer and has seen a vet specialist for
treatment.
Please consider this guy for your home.
10/18/12 - Update
Opie has been neutered and is on his way to a foster home. A temp foster
took a few pictures of him and he seems to be able to chill out and enjoy a
soft bed. He needs some time to learn that life is good... He is
skinny and may have been a stray for a while. We will update his page
when we know more about him.

Opie is a handsome male, about 5 years old, who was found as a stray.
When we met him he was friendly and playing with a ball, pouncing on it so
it would squirt out. He needs a foster home so we can learn more about
him. |
