Blaze is sadly being returned to the kennel tomorrow.  He has made a lot of progress in the past 2.5 months, but has still not been able to adjust to living with two other dogs.  Blaze is wonderful with people and has come so far while in foster.  If you have a home without other dogs, please apply today to give Blaze a chance!

Blaze has been with us for 2 months now. In this time, he has rediscovered a few things that he loves and has learned some new things as well. First up, Blaze has learned that he loves being in a home instead of the kennel.  He loves running around in a fenced back yard with his foster siblings. If they get tired of playing with him, Blaze will entertain himself by running and tossing a rope or ball into the air then going back after it. Blaze loves to snuggle too. He is an excellent bed/body warmer. If there is an electric blanket, that makes it even better in Blaze's opinion.

Blaze has also learned a few manners at his foster home. He must stay out of the kitchen when momma is cooking so he doesn't get hurt. He will sit and watch until the kitchen is empty in case a crumb was missed by the humans. He also must stay in a sit until his food dish is in front of him to eat.  When he gets a treat, he is told gentle and Blaze will not grab it out of your hand. Blaze is an awesome boy that just wants to please his owners and be loved forever.

PS We celebrated Blaze's 3rd birthday today too since we aren't really sure when it is. However today was his 2 month gotcha day and we know he was two years old when he was rescued by AABR last year.

Blaze continues to make great progress in his foster home.  He is getting along well with the other dogs.  Blaze visited our vet today, where he received a check up and vaccines.  He is ready now for a forever family of his own.  Apply today if you are interested in adopting Blaze!

12/16/13

Blaze has been at his foster home for a week now and has made amazing progress in such a short period of time.  Blaze is both housebroken and crate trained.  He is in foster with both a male and female boxer.  Blaze is doing very well with the female boxer after a slow introduction period.  His foster family is working with Blaze on his socialization and basic commands.  We will post another update as Blaze continues to settle in and make progress!

12/09/13

After spending almost a year in a boarding kennel, Blaze has finally found a hero and is now in foster.  He is gradually making the transition from a kennel back to a home environment.  Blaze loves to go for walks and will even bring you his leash.  His foster family will post a new update as soon as they get to know him better.  Apply today to give Blaze a forever family - he has waited a long time for this!

11/23/13

Blaze participated in a photo shoot with "Photography by Ellen."  This sweet and friendly boy was able to get some Christmas photos taken in hopes of finding him a foster or forever home for the holidays.  He would do best as the only dog in the home, but he is great with people and just loves attention.  When Blaze met the photographer, he was all wiggles!  He is doing well on leash and really wants to please.  If you can be Blaze's hero, put your application in today!

8/12/13

Blaze has a visit over the weekend by one of our volunteers.  He is doing much better with his leash walking once he gets his energy out from being in the kennel.  Blaze is very sweet with people and really enjoys attention.  He jumped in the car and wanted to go for a ride.  Please apply today to foster or adopt Blaze!

8/4/13

Blaze is still waiting for a foster or forever home.  Our volunteer who walks him at the kennel indicates that Blaze has been doing really well on her visits and has improved on leash.  He is a very sweet boy with people. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Blaze, please apply today to help him get out of the kennel!

5/8/13

Blaze has been in our kennel since late January and is in urgent need of a foster or forever home. He has done well with all of the new people he has met and is an energetic boy who would enjoy a fenced yard to run and play in. Blaze would do best as an only dog or could possibly acclimate in time with an easygoing female, as he came from a home with a senior female (AABR available dog - Gypsy). Included are three new pictures from a recent visit by our volunteer and photographer (RussellBrammer.com).  Apply today to help Blaze!

1/23/13 -

Blaze is a 2 year old white boxer who was surrendered to the shelter along with Gypsy, a 9 yr old boxer, when their owner lost his home. The owner indicated that Blaze is crate trained and housebroken. He does well with female dogs and children, although older children are recommended due to his size and energy level. Blaze is a very friendly boy, but in need of some obedience training. He is very strong on leash and would benefit from a fenced yard to run and play in. This handsome boy has so much potential - he just needs a home with the patience and time to train him. Apply today if you are interested in fostering or adopting Blaze!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
