Jerry is losing his foster home through no fault of his own. He is a special boy who needs an experienced Boxer owner. If you think you are up to the task, apply today.

1/12/13

The results from Jerry's blood work show that his kidney and liver levels are all just fine! The protein levels are a little low (not surprising because he is so thin) and a couple of other things are a bit off. Jerry is still a bit of a mystery with some of his health, but we will keep on doing what we have to do to get him back on track.

Jerry is eating like a champ, so we are hoping he will soon start gaining weight and looking better with each day. He has developed quite the funny personality: following his foster parents around the house and barking for attention ;-). We love that he is feeling better and starting to perk up. He also is getting along great with the resident Boston Terrier. His coat is super soft and once we get a few groceries in him, he will be gorgeous!

1/09/12 -

Jerry was surrendered to the shelter by his owner, but no information was left about him.  Jerry is estimated to be around 10 years of age.  He is emaciated and was taken directly to our vet to be checked out.  This sweet boy took everything in stride.  He is now safe and warm in his new foster home.

We will be monitoring his health and updating Jerry's website page as we learn more.  It was discovered today through the X-rays that Jerry does not have an enlarged spleen or liver. The mass that was large and pushing on his organs was a very, very full bladder. We are not yet sure if he has nerve damage that is causing him not to express his bladder all the way, but he is eating, drinking, and relieving himself on his own still.  Jerry does have arthritis and that, in combination with his emaciation, is making him weak and unable to walk around too much right now.

Jerry may need an ultrasound in the future, depending on what his bloodwork results show.  He had a full bloodwork panel, a fecal, and a urinalysis. The results will be in tomorrow and we will have a better idea of what kind of shape his kidneys and liver are in and how to proceed.

AABR is doing everything in our power to help this guy out and make him comfortable and happy for however long he will be with us. We would not be able to do it without your help. Today's visit alone was several hundred dollars, and there will be more that we still have to do for Jerry in the future.  Please help Jerry by donating to his care.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
