Maximus has been at his new foster home for a week now.  He is an amazingly social boy who loves everyone from babies to adults.  He does fantastic on his leash and only pulls when he sees someone he thinks will give him attention.  Maximus loves to be a lap dog and doesn't realize how much he weighs.  He is always ready with wiggles and kisses. Maximus recently went to the Pet Expo and wasn't phased at all with the commotion.  He let all the kids and babies pet him, and said thank you with a big wet slobbery kiss.  The more the kids laughed, the more kisses they got.  He hasn't met a dog that he doesn't like or doesn't like him.  Maximus is not a fan of going into the crate, but once you coax him in he settles down with no problem.  He is doing well with his housebreaking.  Maximus loves his walks and he also has a blast running and playing at the community dog park.  This boy will be a great addition to any family!

Maximus was in a temporary foster home for several days. His foster mom reports that Maximus is one of the happiest and playful Boxer boys you will ever meet!! Maximus is very thin and it does not appear that he was well cared for in his original home. You would never know that, though, based on his incredible personality!

Maximus is very easy going. He gets along great with kids and other dogs, and probably would be okay with small dogs and cats as well. Maximus was around his temporary foster mom’s 3 and 5 year old nephews and he did great with them!  He really liked the kids and the kids loved him too!!  He LOVES toys and bones and when you pet him, he just soaks up all the attention! This is a boy who is easy to fall in love with.

Maximus does fine in a crate, but he needs one with enough room for a tall boy! Maximus does need some work on his housebreaking and coming when called. He is very smart and will be easy to train. Someone just needs to spend time with Maximus and an obedience class would be beneficial.  This boy is just a gem that needs a little polish.

Included is a video of Maximus in his temporary foster home:

Maximus is a five year old male boxer who was surrendered to the shelter by his owners. The shelter reports that he did great with his dog test and also did well when he met some cats there. Maximus will be neutered next week and will arrive at his new foster home. An update will be posted once we learn more about this adorable boy. Apply today for Maximus!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
