8/14/13 - MEMORIAL

AABR has lost another angel.  Little Sugar lost her fight with Lymphoma this afternoon.  Thank you to her foster mom, Tammy, for making the last few months of her life the best a dog could want.  Godspeed sweet Sugar.  You touched so many hearts in your time with AABR!

6/23/13

Sugar is doing great and responding well to her chemotherapy. She now weighs 48 lbs & has filled out nicely. She has become quite the little star at the vet's office. When we go in, the staff all come to greet her with a big hug and tell her how pretty she is. Of course, she loves all the attention.

Sugar is still living with three other Boxers. She has recently started to play with toys - what a thrill it has been for me to watch this little girl come around more and more everyday. We have decided as long as Sugar is doing well and is happy, that we will continue her chemo. However, her vet bills are piling up. So far, she has completed seven of the sixteen treatments. Sugar also takes daily medicines to keep her from having nausea and a special diet to help keep her blood counts at a good level.

I am asking if you can't adopt or foster one of our dogs, to please consider making a donation to AABR to help cover some of our vet costs. So many dogs like Sugar really can drain our funds, but to see how happy this little girl is makes it all worth it. She honestly is one of the sweetest little girls!

5/8/13

Sugar Bear is doing great, despite the Lymphoma. She doesn't know and I am keeping it a secret from her. This little girl is so happy to have a place to feel love. She is almost halfway through her first round of chemo and so far, I can feel where her lymph node in her neck has gone down incredibly fast.

Sugar is doing great with all of my other boxers. She is a super sweet girl who is living life to the fullest. I don't know what Sugar's future may hold for her; however, I do know that her Vet bills are increasing as well as her happy spirit. If you would like to sponsor Sugar or any of her other Boxer friends, please do so as there are so many that need our help ASAP. Thank you for taking the time to read her update.

4/27/13

Sugar is making a lot of progress in her foster home.  She is doing great in the crate and gets along well with all of the other boxers.  Sugar loves being around people and is very sweet!

She visited the vet last week and received a diagnosis of lymphoma.  Sugar has started chemotherapy and we could really use your support for her treatment. We are hoping to give this sweet girl a chance at a better life!

4/14/13

Sugar has arrived at her new foster home, where she is living with four other boxers.  Included are a few new pictures.  Her foster mom will send an update about Sugar soon!

4/06/13 -

Sugar and Snow grew up together and were rescued from a place where they were not being taken care of.  She is great with other dogs, but would prefer a home without cats.  Sugar is wonderful with children.  She will be spayed soon and brought up to date on all vet care.  Sugar will then be in need of a foster or forever home.  This sweet girl has been through a lot - please offer her a foster or forever home so she can get the care and love she deserves.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
