perfect weight to match his temperament. Mugsy has a lot of love and
life yet to come. He would be great in a home with adults and/or
children.

Mugsy
continues to be his calm, sweet self. He will do just about anything to
please and loves his people. Mugsy is all filled out now and has
reached his 60 lb normal weight. He looks quite handsome and there are
no bones showing anymore.
Mugsy is a very happy boy, except when it is raining or snowing. He
will go out if you insist. Mugsy has been playing more and he runs
back and forth for his toys. His game of tug has gotten much better.

Mugsy is
the all around great dog. He loves all people. Though he may
look a bit tough, he is entirely the opposite! Mugsy likes to have eye
contact and can hold it very well (or better) than some people. He
watches for signals, treats, and pets. Mugsy loves the aromas wafting
from bags people carry!
He will do whatever he can to please his people. In the recent
horribly cold weather, I wrapped a scarf around his head. His trust is
complete. Mugsy knew if his people were doing something, it was for
his benefit. He kept it on and people just smiled when they saw him.
Mugsy has made a number of human friends, and he stops and says hello to
them. Mugsy loves to play with us - he does play bows, runs back and forth,
and plays tug. He is so sweet, he could be a therapy dog. Mugsy
allows friendly strangers to give him pets and seems to bask in the
compliments. He makes many people smile as he prances down the street
in his coat and booties.
Mugsy has now reached his desired weight goal of 60 lbs. He has
loved every minute of eating to gain the weight. Mugsy is very
pleasant to be around and is great company. He is affectionate without
being needy. Mugsy is in good health and does well with stairs.
Whoever gets this dog is a very lucky person. Mugsy deserves a stable
and loving home of his own.

Mugsy
continues to surprise and amaze us. He has started to play and he now
has a big blue and white durable bone that he loves to tug. When I
toss the toy, he runs and retrieves it and drops it. The more his body
and spirit recover, the more we find out about how even more wonderful this
boy is. Mugsy would love to find a home with a fenced yard. If
you are interested in providing this handsome senior boy a home, apply

Mugsy
seems to be expanding! As he gradually gains weight, his muscle tone is way
better and his stance is classic Boxer -you can see from the new pictures
what a fashion plate he is! He's super affectionate and he gets non stop
compliments. He makes people smile with his looks and jacket. He's always
friendly. On the elevator, he will say hi to all, or sit if asked and wait
politely. He has "treat" stops at the local vet who puts them out on a table
outside, and also at the bank. He walks like a prince on a leash, always
loose. You can pace him beside you or slightly ahead. He's never a bother on
the leash and can be led to the side to ignore any passing dogs. This guy
simply couldn't care less about other dogs. Mugsy did interact with a 5
month old Boxer mix and was tolerant of his puppy antics, but usually he
ignores them. However, he loves to play in his foster home, rolling around
on the floor and dashing back and forth with lots of play bows!

Mugsy's
foster home reports that he is doing well and is an amazing dog. He is up to
48 pounds and continues to gain weight. He was a rockstar patient at his vet
visit, not reacting even to some very personal and unpleasant probing. Mugsy
calmly waits for his foster home to get ready when it's time to go out -he
doesn't move an inch! At first, he didn't seem to care about squirrels even
when they danced right across his path. Now, he's starting to try to keep up
with them. Mugsy is becoming more playful with people and enjoys meeting new
people. He has exchanged vigorous tail wags with a golden retriever
girl who lives in his building. He has also learned about elevators, which
clearly he hadn't experienced before. A whole new world is opening up for
him.

Mugsy came into the shelter as a stray extremely emaciated with toenails
so long that some of them curled under. He is very friendly and did really
well with his dog test! Mugsy is estimated to be around 8 years of age. Our
volunteer who picked him up from the shelter was particularly taken with him
-and she's met a lot of great dogs, so that's especially high praise. He
passed two plastic bags, so that gives us an idea of just how hungry he was.
Mugsy has arrived at his new foster home and It is amazing what a bath,
pedicure, meals, a soft blanket and some love can do. He slept soundly
through his first night and the moment he got up, he was wiggling around and
very happy to see his new friends, but waited politely for them to get up.
Mugsy is thriving in his city foster home which reports that he is very
affectionate and has now given them a first kiss. He's been eating well and
has gained a bit of weight - but needs to put on at least another 15 pounds.
When Mugsy arrived, he didn't know what a ball, squeaky toy, or tug was -
but he has started learning to play with toys. He has a regal posture, a
nice spring to his step, and a classic Boxer lean. When he goes out, he
looks left then right, as if he's looking for someone or something. His
foster home reports that Mugsy is very well behaved. This dog deserves the
best and we'll make sure he gets it. |
