1/25/14 Macey is doing great in her
foster home. She is currently living with both male and female dogs,
big and little. Macey is wonderful with all of them! She is even
fine with my cats, which is something I can't say too often about my foster
boxers. She has been very gentle with Emmy, the boxer puppy I am
fostering and would like nothing more than to mother her. Macey has
one of the best dispositions and will sit, high five, and give gentle kisses
for a treat. She walks great on leash and travels well in the car.
I really can't say enough good things about Macey.
I had to keep Macey in quarantine and separated from the other dogs while
she was being treated for possible mange when she first arrived in rescue.
Not one time did Macey bark or scratch at the door to come in with the
others. She would wait patiently for me in my laundry room and look at
me with her beautiful brown eyes as if she understood. She knew her
happy days were ahead of her.
Macey attended one of our adoption events today and was a big hit.
A lot of people stopped by to see her and give Macey kisses. She loved
every minute of it. Macey would like to find a family to call her own
that can provide her with good food, a warm bed, treats, and lots of love.
If you think you have room for this petite senior, please apply today for
Macey!

Macey is an 8 yr old female boxer who was surrendered to a high kill
shelter in Maryland. The owner indicated that her parents now lived
with them, so she no longer had any time for Macey. Macey was reported
to be very friendly with dogs, cats, and children. She is well behaved
at the vet and completely housebroken. One of AABR's foster homes stepped
up quickly to get this senior girl out of the shelter. Macey only had
to spend one night there. Based on the condition Macey arrived in
rescue, it quickly became apparent that she had not been well taken care of.
Macy was seen at our vet and it was determined that she has sarcoptic mange.
Because she has been scratching with long nails, she also has sores on her
body. Macey has pressure sores from laying on concrete and needs to
gain weight. Thankfully, the mange is completely treatable and she
should be feeling better soon.
Please consider donating to Macey for her current vet bills and upcoming
dental surgery. We will continue to provide updates on Macey's
progress. In the short amount of time she has been in foster, she has
proven to have an extremely sweet and loving disposition. |
