8/17/14 - MEMORIAL Today I will say
good-bye to my Peanut, Rocko. I am honored to be his foster mom and
adoptive mom. He sure found his way into my heart from the moment I
saw his cute self and big eyes at the shelter until today when he leaves
this world. I have been really heartbroken and really struggled with
this decision for the past week.
I continue to question my decision and wish I could do more, but I
promised to love and cherish him and let him go and never allow him to
suffer. I know in my heart it is time to let him be free. I will
cherish every moment, every day, and all our bucket list times together.
I am so sorry buddy.... I will love you forever.
If only love could have saved you from the horrible cancer, we would have
spent years together - a lifetime. You will take my heart today with
you. I will love you always, my baby.

Rocko checking in....Mom says
I am doing great and really enjoying puppy life. I have so much fun
playing with my fur-brothers and sisters, and also with the foster kitten.
The kitten sure loves me and keeps me busy. I was back to visit my
wonderful oncology vet at the end of June and the vet sure was happy with my
progress. My X-rays continue to show everything as stable. What
great news for me. My foster mom is thrilled to hear those same words
each time we go to visit, every 5 weeks.
I sure am lucky to have the wonderful AABR followers to help support me
and let me live out my life to the fullest. I am having a blast!
I just got back from a vacation in Maryland where I got to play, relax,
swim, and enjoy some golf cart rides. What a fun time I had!
Please continue to support me by making a donation for my medical care,
which will help me to have many more adventures. My foster mom is
hoping for a miracle for me as she tells me all the AABR fans are hoping for
that also. What a lucky boy I am to have you all behind me. Stay
tuned for my next adventure or outing. Boxer hugs to my fans!

Rocko recently celebrated his
3 month mark since his surgery in February 2014. Rocko has come a long
way since arriving from the shelter. He has proven nothing can hold
back this sweet boy. Rocko truly loves life and sure makes life fun.
Rocko is finished with his four Chemotherapy treatments. He will
now start with his Chemotherapy drug 3 times a week. He just went for
a chest X-ray checkup and the vet was very happy with his results. She
said they are stable and actually said his lesions are looking smaller.
Rocko is a strong boy and fighting the fight!
Rocko enjoys all of his playtime with his fur-friends. His foster
mom loves him to pieces. His life to his foster mom will always be
about quality and not quantity. She has created a bucket list for
Rocko and looks forward to crossing off more items. She cherishes
every day she gets to be his foster mom and loves that she is lucky enough
to get to see his big smile. Rocko's foster mom looks forward to
seeing him continue his journey full of life and love.

Our boy is still looking for
his miracle. He has a very aggressive form of bone cancer and there is
evidence that it may have already metastasized. Rocko has started on
chemotherapy. He had a 45 minute treatment yesterday and goes back in
three weeks for a longer treatment. He will alternate between the two
every three weeks.
The doctor was very honest in telling us that our time with Rocko is
likely to be limited. She said even with treatment, he may only have
another year. We will do everything we can to make whatever time he
has left fabulous. Be assured that he is receiving plenty of love in
his foster home and will have the opportunity to get as much living done as
he can! His foster mom is even putting together a bucket list for him,
full of activities like a run on the beach, his own Facebook page, a photo
shoot, and going on a trip somewhere fun.
How can you continue to support Rocko? You can keep him in your
thoughts and prayers. You can also sponsor his medical care by making
a donation. Thank you for supporting this wonderful boxer boy!

Rocko's biopsy results came
back and it is osteosarcoma, as we feared. The initial prognosis is
grim - 3 to 4 months with no treatment and possibly 6-12 months with
chemotherapy. The plan is to get Rocko in to see an oncologist as soon
as we can get an appointment so we can decide what the next steps will be.
It is not the news we were all praying for, but we will make sure that
whatever time he has left with us will be happy and filled with love.

Rocko is doing great following
his surgery. He is determined and is hopping around like a bunny.
We are still waiting for the results of his biopsy and will post more
information soon!

Rocko is out of surgery and in
recovery. His leg has been amputated, but xrays showed that whatever
is in his stomach is breaking up and may pass on its own, so we held off on
that for now. We are sending out a biopsy so we can decide the next
steps. Please keep Rocko in your thoughts. Donations are also
welcome for his support!

Rocko was an owner surrender to the shelter. His owners called
animal control to come pick him up from their home due to the problem with
his leg. He is only 8-10 months old and is a really sweet boy.
Rocko also needs our help. The bone in his front leg has essentially
been eaten away and the vet feels it may be fractured beyond repair.
There is a possibility it may be bone cancer, which will require amputation
of his leg. Rocko also has some sort of metal object lodged in his
stomach that will require surgery to remove. Our volunteer reported
that he was kissing away her tears as she took in the news. We want to
give Rocko every chance at living a long and healthy life. We will
make sure he is well cared for and loved for the rest of his days. Two
major surgeries, followed by whatever is determined to be the best
treatment, will require a large amount of fundraising. Please consider
sending in a donation to help us help Rocko. He needs all of our
support. |
