12/10/14

Lucy had a visit today from our rescue director, who is amazed that this adorable girl hasn't been scooped up yet.  Lucy would do best as the queen of her castle.  She is housebroken and loves her crate.

12/05/14

Lucy is doing well in her foster and would love to find a forever family of her own.  She enjoys car rides.  Lucy also loves people, but still needs to be careful around smaller children because her jumping.  Lucy is great with the other dogs in her foster home and would do fine with submissive companions.  If you are interested in Lucy, apply today!

10/12/14

Lucy is now totally housebroken and doing great with her boxer brothers.  She would be fine in a home with older children.  Apply today to adopt this wonderful girl!

9/11/14

Lucy spent two weeks in a temporary home while her foster family was on vacation.  They indicated that Lucy is always a very happy girl and she seems to actually be smiling.  Lucy loves to snuggle and give kisses.  She has a lot of energy and enjoys playing with her squeaky toys.  We feel that Lucy may be younger than originally reported, possibly around 2-3 yrs of age.  If you are interested in adopting a wonderful, young girl - apply today for Lucy!

8/03/14

Lucy is doing really well in her foster home and it is hard to believe she has not been adopted yet.  Lucy is getting along great with her foster brothers and is learning the invisible fence.  She is also continuing to learn the house rules.

7/14/14

Lucy has now earned free run of the house during the night, but she is crated during the day when left alone so her curiosity doesn't get the best of her!  If you are interested in providing a forever home for this beautiful girl, apply today for Lucy!

6/22/14

Lucy is doing great in her foster home and is now completely housebroken.  She is playing much better with the other two boxers and is learning when to give them their space.  Lucy needs a lot of exercise and loves to play.  She is also learning how to cuddle.  Lucy would do great in an active home with no young children because she does tend to play rough.  She would also do great with a young male dog that can keep up with her energy level.

6/8/14

Lucy is a super sweet girl who is very athletic.  She would make a great running or hiking partner.  Lucy loves her crate and doesn't make a peep in it.  She would do best in a home with older children as she continues to get used to the world outside of the puppy mill.  Please give her a chance and she will continue to blossom!

5/20/14

Lucy has sadly been returned to rescue and is back with her foster family.  She is in need of a home that can take it slowly with her and give her the time and patience a former puppy mill girl needs.  Lucy does not do well in an active household.  She is an energetic girl who would love a fenced yard.  If you are interested in adopting Lucy, apply today.

4/2014 - Adopted

4/10/14

Lucy is doing great in her foster home!  She is currently in foster with two male boxers and is learning what the good life is all about . She is a very curious dog and Lucy is making a lot of progress with housetraining.  She loves attention and does well in her crate.  We will post more updates as Lucy's foster family gets to know her better.

3/29/14 -

Lucy was surrendered to AABR from a puppy mill.  She is 4-5 years old and will be spayed and brought up to date on all vet care on Monday.  Lucy will then be arriving at her new foster home, where she will learn what it is like to live in a home environment.  We will update Lucy's page once we learn more about her.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
