Buster has been in his foster home for a little over a week.  He wasn't feeling well the first few days due to kennel cough, but remained super loveable and appreciative of any and all human affection.  Now that he is feeling much better, his foster mom has had the chance to see more of his personality.

Buster is a big, goofy guy with fabulous manners.  He loves to play, but is careful not to jump on people or knock into things in the house.  He loves people and is definitely a looker!  During the last four days, over a dozen people have either come out of their houses or stopped their cars to comment on what a beautiful dog he is.

Buster already knew his basic commands and quickly learned the top two rules of the house: not to go through an open door unless told it is okay and not to pass a person on the steps.  He is terrified of his crate and Buster's foster mom is working on helping him feel more comfortable around it so he can be crated if needed.  Lucky for her, Buster does not need to be crated.  He has free run of the house during the day with no problems.

Although he is great on leash and will usually walk right next to his foster mom or behind her, Buster does get super excited when he sees a dog or a person.  If his foster mom sees the dog first and is consistent with redirection, he will whine a bit and then settle down.  He loves people and he does pull to greet them.

If you are interested in providing a forever home for this handsome boy, apply today!

Buster arrived at his new foster home today and is settling in well.  He appears to be housebroken and knows his basic commands.  Buster is also walking well on leash.  He has been neutered and brought up to date on all vet care.  We will post more information and pictures once his foster mom learns more about him.

4/10/14 -

Meet Buster!  He was found as a stray and is estimated to be around 3 years of age.  The volunteers at the shelter indicate that Buster is a ham who really enjoys attention.  He will sit in front of you and lean into you while being loved on.  Buster was forward and outgoing with meeting new dogs.  He will be neutered soon and will then arrive at his new foster home.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
