Reuben is being returned to rescue due to a change in life circumstances.  He will be arriving soon at his foster home.  Reuben is a playful, well-adjusted boy.  He really enjoys running in the backyard, but Reuben does need a tall, secure fence.  Every night, Reuben sleeps on his dog bed next to the bed.  He has been living with two young children and Reuben was wonderful with them.  He does need some work on his leash manners as he gets excited when he sees other dogs and small animals.  Reuben loves to play with his toys and is great at playing fetch.  He knows all of his basic commands and listens well.  If you are interested in adopting this handsome, fun-loving boy - apply today for Reuben!

7/2014 - Adopted

Reuben was able to stay with a volunteer last week while his foster mom was out of town.  She indicated that Reuben is a very happy and well adjusted boy.  He is very comical and will entertain himself with toys.  Reuben loves people and gives lots of kisses.  He did well with the female boxer and is a playful boy.  Reuben really enjoyed having a fenced yard and he did a lot of laps!  He is such a pleasure to be around.

6/22/14

Reuben now has full run of the house during a typical work day and he does not need the crate anymore.  If he goes to a home with a female boxer, she needs to be ale to keep up with his boxer play.  Reuben would love to find a forever home with an active family and a fenced yard to play in!

5/24/14

Reuben is doing great in his foster home.  He is gaining weight and looking much better.  Reuben is a super handsome boy who loves everyone he meets.  He is such a wiggler!  Reuben loves to cuddle and thinks he is a lap dog.  He walks nicely with his harness, but will pull when he passes another dog.  Reuben is learning how to sit and wait while they pass.  He knows his basic commands.  Reuben is crate trained and will go in willingly as long as a treat is tossed in for him.  He is starting to be allowed free run of the house for short periods and can be trusted now for about 2 hours.  Reuben also travels well in the car.

Reuben is very playful, but his energy level is typical for a 2 year old boxer.  He loves his walks and enjoys chasing his balls in the house.  Reuben would probably do best with a fenced yard to run and play in.

Reuben is good with children and other dogs, but he would do best in a home without cats.  He is a super sweet love bug of a dog.  Reuben is happiest with his head on somebody's lap getting attention.  He will be a great addition to any home!

5/4/14 -

Reuben was found as a stray and is estimated to be around 2 yrs old.  He is very friendly with new people. Reuben is looking for a home with a fenced yard and somebody experienced with this breed.  He is a strong, energetic young male who would love to find a foster or forever home!  Apply today for Reuben.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
