10/21/14 Daisy has been doing really
well in her foster home while she patiently waits for her forever home to
find her. She is building up her courage and confidence every day as
her sweet nature shines. Daisy is still quiet and shy, but has been
blossoming over the past few months. She is still easily startled by
sounds and still cowers when approached, but if you allow her to approach on
her terms, she comes when called and enjoys being petted.
Daisy is full of boxer wiggles, especially in the morning when she is
most playful and free-spirited. Daisy is really good with children of
all ages, but we are recommending a home with older, quieter children and a
less hectic household. Daisy is a dog of habit and would benefit from
a consistent schedule. She loves the comforts of a dog bed and can
often be found in one.
Daisy depends on the resident dogs for confidence and we feel she must go
to a home with a male dog. Daisy has been learning to enjoy walks
outside, but is still very nervous on leash and in new surroundings.
If you feel you can give Daisy the home she deserves and the patience she
needs, please apply today!

Daisy has been in foster care
for over a month now. Life has changed drastically for her, as she
went from living in a crate in a puppy mill to being a family member in her
foster home. Every day, a small change is noticeable in Daisy.
She is still very timid of people, but if you let her approach you,
she is more comfortable. Daisy is taking treats from her foster
parents and is learning to accept (and like) being petted.
Daisy absolutely loves the resident dogs, and follows them everywhere.
She is gaining confidence by being around them and learning their ways.
Daisy still doesn't show much interest in toys, but once in a while she will
pick one up and carry it around.
Overall, we have seen many small improvements in Daisy's ability to live
comfortably outside of a puppy mill. It would be best for Daisy to be
adopted by a home with a resident dog so she can keep shadowing behaviors.
She also requires a home that is willing to give her all the time she needs
to adjust, and mostly a home that can offer lots of patience and love.
Please consider adopting Daisy if you are seeking to add a very sweet
girl to your pack, and can give her the time she needs to blossom into a
confident family member!

Of all the mill dogs we have
helped, Daisy is one of the saddest cases. She was born at the mill
and lived her life there. When she arrived in foster, she wouldn't
walk and her foster mom had to tip the crate to get her out. Daisy
wouldn't eat and was petrified of any movements. We called the person
who picked her up from the mill to learn more of Daisy's history and it was
shocking. He told our volunteer that Daisy never had any human contact
or socialization in any way other than to get fed. This is why poor
Daisy is such a sad case. To be born on a mill and know nothing but
the mill is the story of so many dogs like Daisy. Once we take the
dogs into rescue from the puppy mills, we never look back. We are
looking forward to seeing Daisy make progress and come out of her shell with
each day.

Daisy was surrendered to AABR by a local puppy mill. She is
reported to be good with other dogs and older children. Daisy has now
been spayed and just arrived at her new foster home. Her foster family
will update her page once they learn more about her. |
