Chocko is still looking for a home to call his own.  His brother, Bo, has found a wonderful home for adoption and Chocko would like a similar happy ending.  He has settled in nicely at his foster home.  Chocko gets along wonderfully with the other dogs, both male and female.  He loves to play outside with the other dogs and has great manners in the house.  Chocko is on a Glucosamine supplement, which is working well for his arthritis.  Chocko will pick up toys and play by himself, or will play with the other dogs if they are willing.

Chocko is such a sweet dog with so few issues.  I can't understand why he has not already been adopted.  He is housebroken, crate trained, listens to whatever he is told, and is a joy to live with.  If you are looking for a somewhat quiet dog who loves to cuddle, stays off the furniture if you request it, and loves his crate if you ask him to go in it - then you would hit the jackpot with Chocko.  Even when I board him when I am traveling, he does great and everyone loves him!

Chocko is doing well in foster!  He has gained weight and is the sweetest boy!  Chocko does have some arthritis and may have a difficult time with a lot of stairs.  If you are interested in giving a sweet senior boy a forever home, apply today for Chocko!

Chocko is settling in great at his new foster home.  He is very easy in the home and has a wonderful temperament.  Chocko is crated when left alone without any problems.  He loves being with his people and is a very affectionate boy.

Chocko spent the week in a temporary foster home and arrived with his new foster family on Friday.  His temporary foster mom indicated Chocko is a great boy!  He is completely housebroken and does fine with free run.  Chocko is very loving with people.  He really enjoys playing with his tennis ball.  We will update Chocko's page once his new foster family gets to know him better.

9/22/14 -

Chocko and his brother, Bo, were purchased as puppies together.  One of their owners passed away five months ago and they found themselves at the shelter for a few days.  The other owner decided after four days to bring them back home because it was too quiet without them.  This owner is now relocating to a place that does not allow pets, so Chocko and Bo have once again found themselves without a home and at the shelter.

These senior boys were very stressed in the shelter environment and AABR was asked if we could take them quickly.  We were able to find a foster home with other dogs for each boy to go to.  Chocko is in his temporary foster home now, and will be moving to his foster home in Delaware later this week.

Chocko is reported by his previous owner to be good with other dogs and children of all ages.  He did great with his evaluation at the shelter with another dog. Chocko even went into a play bow to try to get the other dog to play with him.  We will update Chocko's page once he settles into his foster home and we learn more about him.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
