2/21/15 Candy is doing well following
her surgery. She has a lot more energy now and her personality is
coming out more with each day! Candy is housebroken and working on
crate training and house manners. She loves everyone and is starting
to play more. Candy has gained about 10 lbs and now weighs 64 lbs.

We may never have full details
on Candy's past life, but one thing we now know for certain is that she
suffered from chronic and untreated ear infections. The infection got
so bad that it eventually caused her ear drum to rupture. Normally, if
an ear drum should rupture - the ear will eventually drain outward, but hers
drained inward - causing the abscess on the roof of her mouth.
When Candy was returned to rescue, we had the abscess drained and
removed, but it returned within a few days, causing some additional
breathing issues. Finally, after running a CT scan of her head, we
discovered the ear problems.
This week, Candy had a total ear canal ablation. We did a biopsy of
a dense material in the inner ear, which came back as a fibrosed cyst
material. Candy now has no left ear canal and will be deaf on that
side, but she is healing beautifully! After her stitches are removed
and she has a recheck with the surgeon in one week, Candy will be ready for
her forever home.
Candy is very lovable to everyone she meets. She gets along with
other dogs and doesn't seem to bother with the cats. Candy just wants
to be loved. We are completely outraged that such a sweet girl
suffered for so long. Please consider donating towards Candy's
expenses. Her surgery, CT scan, and prior care has been costly - but
she is now on her way to a complete recovery!

Candy is adjusting well with
living in a home. She would do best with a male brother. Candy
is learning to take treats from our hands. She is doing very well with
housetraining, but needs to be kept on a schedule. Candy takes signals
from her male boxer foster brother. She always wants to do what he is
doing. He has even taught her the pleasures of playing with toys.
Candy lives with an 8 year old human brother and she loves children!
She rarely barks and is such a love bug. All Candy needs now is her
forever family!
