5/27/15 - MEMORIAL Some days in rescue
are harder than others. I remember seeing Angelina's picture and
thinking I had to save her. I had to let her enjoy the good life and
to know what it felt like to be loved and to be safe, no matter what our
length of time was going to be together. Angie came to me broken.
She had such sad, soulful eyes with scars all over her body. She was
defeated. Angie deserved so much more.
Angie learned very quickly that she was loved, adored, and could trust
me. She learned what the life of a spoiled dog was like. Angie
learned dogs were her friends and she enjoyed their company. She loved
her food and always had a great appetite. Angie always ensured people
noticed her, no matter where we went together. She could always bring
a smile to people's faces. Angie enjoyed her life here and she knew
love. She touched so many hearts.
I am lucky to foster for Adopt a Boxer Rescue, who is always supportive
of me, no matter what dog I take into foster - regardless of any health
conditions. Angie was so lucky to have AABR behind her and all of her
wonderful supporters who cheered her on and donated to her care.
Whenever she needed prescription food for her kidney failure, her fans were
right there to provide for her. I thank her fans and AABR from the
bottom of my heart. Angie had a chance and she loved making memories.
Angie really enjoyed her last months of life.
I will forever be grateful for the time we spent together and the love &
happiness this girl gave me. Rest in peace sweet girl, you will
forever hold a piece of my heart. You were loved, cherished, and
adored.
Forever remembered, forever missed.

Angelina had her check up at
the vet and she received good news. Her bloodwork shows that her
kidney values are stable and her blood protein levels have improved.
She has been doing well in her foster home on her special diet, medications,
and fluids. Thank you for continuing to support Angelina!

Angelina is doing well in her
foster home. She has been on her kidney food, medications, and fluids
- and seems to be happy. Her favorite things are her food, naps, and
the couch. Angelina is lucky to have wonderful supporters with AABR.
She is such a sweet, gentle girl with soulful eyes that make your heart
melt.

Angelina has been released from the vet and just arrived at her new foster
home. She has a very sweet disposition and deserves so much more than
what she went through. Angelina has already made herself at home!

A few days ago, we received information about a senior boxer who had been
found in Delaware. She had been spotted falling into a ditch on the
side of the road by a Good Samaritan, who then called the police for help.
The photo of the officer leading her to the car was sent to our volunteers,
and our hearts melted. We contacted the shelter and were able to
rescue her as soon as her stray hold was up.
Here is what we know so far - she is microchipped and her original owners
were contacted. They gave her away 4-5 years ago and did not want her
back, but were able to provide her name - Angelina. This sweet girl has
multiple issues going on. In addition to having scars all over her
face, Angelina has no teeth, leading us to believe her life in the past few
years has probably been rough and she may have been used as a bait dog.
Angelina is very thin and has a large growth that extends from her chest
down through her armpit to just behind her front leg. It is very
infected and the doctor does not believe it can be surgically removed
without costing her a leg. She had bloody stool this afternoon and may
have either a UTI or vaginal infection going on as well. She is not
able to fully expand her lungs, possibly due to the mass in her chest.
Angelina has some weakness in her hind end and has difficulty getting up or
negotiating stairs.
Angelina will be at the vet's office for the next few days and then will
move to one of our local foster homes. Please help support our efforts
by making a donation towards Angelina's care. |
