Foxy has come a long way since arriving in foster.  She jumps up on the furniture now and has no difficulty with stairs.  Foxy enjoys racing around the backyard like a puppy!  She has gained weight and looks very healthy.

Foxy had her eye removed at the end of April and she is back at her foster home.  She is recovering well from surgery and the tumor will be sent out for a biopsy.

4/23/15

Foxy is doing well in her foster home.  She is always asking for belly rubs and attention.  Foxy loves to find a sunny spot to nap outside.  She is quite the treat hound now.  Foxy is at a great weight and her legs are stronger, although her arthritis still sometimes bothers her.

Foxy had to visit our ophthalmologist recently due to a persistent eye infection.  It was determined that there is a tumor inside her eye, which has broken through and is now protruding.  The ophthalmologist recommended that her eye be removed, so we have surgery scheduled soon.  We will post a new update once Foxy is through the surgery and recovering.  Please consider making a donation to help with Foxy's upcoming surgery!

Foxy is not a fan of this snow and winter weather!  She goes out quickly and then runs to lay in front of the fireplace.  Foxy gets along great with her foster brother and loves to receive attention from her family.  When she is shown her leash in the mornings, Foxy wiggles all over and is very excited for her walk.

Foxy has gained weight and is looking great now!  She is running more and playful in the yard.  Foxy is a very vocal girl - she "talks" to you and barks softly when she needs something.  Foxy's favorite thing to do in the winter is to nap in front of the fireplace.  She will drag her bed over and then can be found happily taking a nap.

12/10/14

Foxy is doing well in her foster home.  Now that she has healed from her surgery, Foxy is much more active.  She is playing well with her foster brother, although she does tire out quickly.  Foxy has started rolling over for belly rubs.  She is coming out of her shell more and more with each day as she becomes comfortable in her new environment.

11/08/14

Foxy is settling in well at her new foster home.  She is very relaxed and has made herself right at home.  Included are a few updated pictures from her foster dad.  Foxy can't jump to get on furniture and has a difficult time with stairs.  She has been doing well with her foster brother, a senior male boxer.  Foxy will be visiting our rescue vet early next week to get three lumps removed.  She will also have bloodwork and a dental completed.  Please consider making a donation for Foxy's vet care, which helps our rescue continue to support the wonderful seniors in need of rescue help!  We will update Foxy's page once we have the results from her vet visit.

11/03/14 -

Foxy was originally adopted from the shelter in December 2007.  She was recently found running at large and taken back to the shelter by animal control, but her owner did not come to reclaim her.  The volunteers contacted AABR for help in getting this senior girl into rescue.

Foxy is a very sweet girl whose nub wiggles constantly!  She just arrived at her new foster home, where she is getting along well with a senior male boxer.  She is enjoying the attention from her foster family.  Foxy does appear to have some arthritis and has difficulty with doing a lot of steps or jumping on furniture.  Foxy will be going to our rescue vet soon to have a few growths removed.  We will update her page as soon as her foster family gets to know her better.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
