Jon attended his first adoption event with AABR, where he enjoyed meeting children and adults.  As you can see from the updated photos, Jon has made himself right at home in foster.  He is on a high quality diet and a daily vitamin.  Jon is making steady improvements and is going to be a wonderful boy for a very lucky family.

1/07/15

Jon visited our vet last night and is expected to make a full recovery.  His legs are the result of malnourishment and neglect when going through the puppy growth period, and the vet feels they will correct themselves on a good diet and supplements.  The vet also felt his age was closer to 9 months.  At just 21 lbs, Jon is always going to be a very petite boxer.  He was dewormed and his Demodex will be rechecked in two weeks.

Jon is settling in well at his foster home and is really enjoying playing with the four other dogs, large and small.  His foster mom is hoping that Jon will be placed with another dog to play with and learn from.  Jon has also met the two cats.  He is doing wonderful in the crate and with his housetraining.  Jon is very food motivated and eager to please.  If you are interested in a smaller boy who has an amazing disposition, apply today for Jon!

Jon was transported to his foster home today and is settling in well.  Although the vet feels he is 6-7 months of age, Jon only weighs 19 lbs and appears much younger because of past neglect.  He has been started on several medications for his skin.  Jon will be visiting our vet next week.  We will post an update once we have the results of that visit.

12/29/14 -

Jon was found as a stray in terrible shape.  The animal control officer took him immediately to the emergency hospital.  The vet indicated that Jon was emaciated and his joints are deformed from neglect and poor nutrition.  The vet estimated Jon to be around 6 months of age, even though in appearance he resembles a puppy around 2-3 months old.  Jon has also been diagnosed with Demodex mange and has started treatment.  Jon will be arriving soon at his new foster home where he will be receiving some much needed TLC.  We will update his page with new pictures and more information once he arrives in rescue this weekend.  Jon will also be seeing our vet soon to help with his recovery.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
