Brutus is a sweet boy with a very playful personality.  He enjoys interacting with other dogs and needs a home with a young, active female dog to keep him company.  He will kiss you every moment he can and snuggling is his favorite activity after a long day of play.  If you have an active female that can keep up with Brutus, apply today to adopt this wonderful boy!

7/19/15

Brutus attended Broadway Barks last weekend and did amazing!  He greeted all the dogs and children with no problems.  Brutus is a fun loving boy who would love to find his forever family!

5/27/15

Brutus is in need of a new foster home.  He is a young, athletic dog who needs an experienced home that can provide a lot of time and attention.  If you can provide a foster or forever home for Brutus, apply today!

4/20/15

Brutus continues to make strides with his foster family, and is becoming quite the young man.  Brutus is such a happy dog and just loves to be around people and other dogs.  Sometimes he can take his playing a little too far.  He met with a trainer, who indicated that Brutus doesn't have a mean bone in his body.  He is secretly a mush!

As with any young boxer, Brutus is easily excitable and sometimes quite stubborn.  With the right training and with patience, this will get better.  Brutus has so much to offer.  Give him a chance and he will show you!!

3/22/15

Brutus is loving life!  He has come so far in the short time he has been in foster care.  Brutus is fully housebroken, walks wonderfully with a harness on, and loves to meet new people.  Brutus has a strong personality and responds best to people who are assertive.  He needs somebody who can discipline him properly when his puppyish behaviors get out of line.  Brutus does best with dogs who also assert themselves.  This handsome boy is a work in progress, but surely worth it all!  Brutus shows his gratefulness every day with lots and lots of kisses!!  Do you think you have what it takes to take Brutus from good to great?

2/16/15

Brutus is doing well in foster and looking for a forever home.  He is a sweet, energetic young boy who loves to give kisses.  Brutus has been in his foster home for a little over a week now.  He is being taught commands such as sit, stay, and down.  He is also learning how to walk properly on leash.  Brutus would do best in a home with older children, as he needs work with playful nipping.  He is almost completely housebroken.  Brutus lives with two other boxers, who he is becoming more comfortable with.  Brutus needs a home that can be patient and take the time to work with him.  He is highly food motivated and has a lot of potential!

2/01/15 -

Brutus was found as a stray and brought to the shelter.  We do not have a lot of information about him.  Brutus has been neutered and brought up to date on vaccines.  He recently went into a temporary foster home until his transport to Long Island, NY.  Brutus is reported to be good with other dogs.  He seems to be a very sweet and friendly boy.  Brutus is looking for a foster home when he arrives in rescue.  We will update his page once we know more about him.

Buy a Dog Name:

This name is in memory of an AABR boxer boy owned by Ryan's parents.  He was the reason why we fell in love with boxers and with AABR.  He was a stubborn old man through and through.  His favorite hobbies were eating, sleeping, and occasionally trotting around the backyard.  Brutus was always the talk of the family!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
