08/19/06 - Happy Ending Follow up
I wanted to share a situation that
could have turned bad if it were not for the training that George and I
consistently give to Troy. This past Thursday when I came home I let Troy
out as I usually do. He did his tinkles and then walked over to the
driveway; at the same time I looked in horror as I realized that I had left
the gate wide open. I heard a car coming up the street; my heart was
pounding. Troy saw the gate open and I shouted out "Troy, No". Troy stopped
dead in his tracks and sat. He looked over at me and I said "Come"; and he
did. I got him into a safe area and told him to stay. He did. I shut the
gate and praised him along with a treat. I can't stress how important it is
to train your pet. I was very careless and because of my carelessness,
something tragic could have happened. Fortunately Troy understands his
boundaries and commands. Since the day Troy came out of K9 Korners boot
camp, George and I continue the training that Paul gave to him and I mean
every, single day. I'm grateful that we have because the training paid off.
It doesn't take that much time out of your day to teach basic commands like
come, no, sit and stay. Basic commands that can save a pets life. Anyway, I
thought someone else can benefit by me sharing my story. These are pictures
of Troy having fun, being spoiled, exhausted and waiting for his treat!
Regards to all!

Troy went through an
intensive 3 week training course to learn basic obedience and general good
manners. He lost 10 lbs and is in super shape. Troy excelled in every way
here at camp. Troy is a sweet and gentle boy who did great with all the
trainers he worked with . The owner of the center could not get over Troy's
good natured personality and the staff just loved him. Troy is a super dog.

Troy is in need of foster with another dog and a dog savvy person.
This Dog
is GREAT!!!!
Troy is a
heartworm survivor! He is a large healthy, energetic 3-4 year old
male who loves to play in the yard with toys, his foster
sister, people or by himself. Troy also loves to go
anywhere in the car.
He is such a good boy and very handsome too! Troy
seems to get along with all 4 and 2 legged creatures.
There are so many good things to say about him.
Troy is waiting for his forever home!

Troy is still trying to find an awesome forever home to call his own. Troy
would be best to have a strong, understanding, patient family with land
that he could run on and grass to roll in. We will not place him in a home
with declawed cats.
If you have time to
shower this large boxer boy with lots of attention and love...he is sure to
reward you with the same.
Troy needs his HERO!

Troy
was successfully neutered yesterday and is ready to find his forever
home. The new pictures are a testament to his good nature and
temperament. As his foster mom, I plea for someone to open their heart and
home to this great dog. I know that times are tough in this world, but its
times like this that make us reflect on our lives and those around us.
Personally, I find strength, stability and confidence in my 4- legged
friend, Salty Dog. I would love for someone to feel the same about Troy.
08/26/05 -Good
news!
Troy's Dr. said he can be neutered on
Sept 7th. So, this means that he will be ready to go to his forever home!
If you have room in your heart (and home) for this big boy then please get
your application in. Good dogs deserve great forever homes!

of this great guy!

a quick update for Troy-
Troy is a
heartworm survivor! He is a very large healthy, energetic 3-4 year old
un-neutered (so far) male who loves to play in the yard with toys, his
foster sister, people or by himself. Troy also loves to go anywhere in the
car. He is such a good boy and very handsome too! Troy seems to get along
with all 4 and 2 legged creatures. There are so many good things to say
about him.
But, like all fostered dogs, Troy really
needs to find his forever home! As his foster mom, I adore him. Everyone
that meets him thinks he is so great and a very friendly dog.
Please won't someone adopt this big
beautiful boy? Maybe someone that has a nice fenced in yard with some shade
trees?

Hey Troy here.
I am starting to feel much better. Its been over 2 weeks since I started
getting my heartworm treated and boy am I getting my energy back. Well,
except that the heat gets to me, but then I just lay on the concrete patio
or in the nice green grass. My foster mom would like to get me to go into
the water or hose me down, but I am not too sure that I like that yet. I do
like getting lots of affection-good loving. I just have to sit there and
she will pet my head and tell me what I good boy I am. My foster mom keeps
a supply of snausages around, because she found that is the best way to get
me into my crate. She gives me plenty of food and nice cold water-what more
could a big boy like me want? Oh yeah, I could really use a good forever
home! One that has a fenced yard would be great! Even one of those
invisible fences would be good-especially if I could coax some rabbits into
the yard to chase. That forever home better have some good toys, cause I
like to play fetch now that I know what it is all about. So lets see, food
(lots of it), water, toys, a nice comfy bed, loving (lots of that too),
patience and some understanding, well that is probably about it-yeah that
will do. I don't mind visiting the vet-I guess he helps me out a bunch.
And oh do I LOVE LOVE the car! And if possible a playmate. If my forever
home could give me these small things-I would give that family lots of fun
and love in return. My foster mom tells me that I should be ready to go in
less than a month. Is there someone out there who could help me out here?

Troy is a huge
sweet heart! He began his recovery from heartworm treatment last week. He
was a little stressed out when he first got to his foster home, but is back
to his curious, energetic, happy "puppy" self after resting the weekend.
His foster mom has quite the time keeping him calm during his recovery.
There are so many good things to say about this dog-where do I begin?
He is huge, but doesn't know it. Troy sees Salty Dog (aka Maxi) sitting on
my lap and thinks that he can too. Well he can, but it gets to be a bit
much. He is very affectionate and loves to get lots of loving! He hasn't
showed one aggressive tendency towards myself, my friends or to other dogs.
He has been to 2 vet hospitals and we haven't had an issue and all the
people brag about how good he is! Troy is just a huge friendly boy with the
sweetest eyes. All the pictures don't do justice to how handsome he is.
I haven't had the opportunity to have him interact with children. I am
quite certain he would love them. My hesitation is that he is so big and
doesn't seem to know it. He pushes past my smaller Salty Dog so he can come
get attention or food. And of course he does the wiggly boxer thing and
leans against your legs. I would just be concerned about small children
being knocked over.
Troy will be neutered after his recovery from the heartworms. I am working
on getting him adjusted to the comforts of living in a house. He is totally
crate trained. I was lucky enough to already have a huge crate for him to
use.
Troy is very playful now that he has discovered toys! He loves to roll in
the grass and bounce around the yard. A better name for Troy might have
been Tigger for the way he bounces around. He gets along perfectly with my
female and in his first foster home there was also a female bulldog. I
suppose he also got to know females pretty well when he was a breeder boy.
The first foster family said that they had a cat and he was fine. I have a
neighbor cat across the street that both dogs look longingly at. Troy
showed no interest in a male Chihuahua or male Cocker Spaniel.
He also has no food aggression. Just no aggression at all in fact. He is
though a great watch dog, barking at lots of passerby's, but lets my friends
come into the yard with absolutely no trouble.
I will write more soon. I haven't had much time till now but let me tell
you this big boy will make such a great addition to the right family! He
has been through so much in his short life. What life? I don't believe he
was abused, but he was terribly neglected and uncared for at that puppy
mill. He deserves the best and is very lucky that the rescue got a hold of
him in time.
PS The pictures shown here were taken on Mother's Day. It was so
hilarious, because Troy must never have seen moving water at a beach
before-he was barking at it and trying to catch the water in his mouth! I
was doubled over laughing!

Troy has been treated for heartworms this week. He came through
the treatment with flying colors.
5/15/05
Maxi (my white Boxer) and I taught Troy how
to play with toys today! We had tried over the weekend, but he wasn't ready
till this AM! He even tossed the rope/tennis ball to himself!
Troy continues to amaze me with his good behavior and intelligence! He
tries very hard to please and listens really well.
Its so funny how much he has learned from Maxi!
Troy had his EKG, x-rays, and blood tests and now we are ready to treat his
heartworms.
5/10/05 New pictures with Maxi (at the beach) who
was just adopted.

Troy is the sweetest dog ever. He
just wants to please people. He is in a temporary foster home with a cat and
a female boxer and is doing great. He loves attention and doesn't mind if he
doesn't get it. He was used to nothing good in his life. His collar was on
so tight it had to be surgically removed from his neck. In spite of all the
negatives in Troy's life he is just a love bug. He listens well and is very
smart. Hid foster sister is trying to teach him to play. He had a look like
he never saw a ball before. Poor guy. His foster family is going to Italy in
5 days so please help us get this great lovable guy into a super home.

Troy
Meet Troy. He came with
Rikki, from a North Carolina Kill Shelter.
He is a pretty big boy ~ 90
pounds. He is a happy boy who just wants attention. He cried
when I put him back in the kennel. He has a very nice red coat, natural
ears, cropped tail.
Upon arrival he was given a complete physical. We received a call from
the vet that said that Troy is heartworm positive. This poor boy needs us
now more than ever. We need to get him into a foster home so that he can
begin treatment.
Taking an easy dog from
someone who has to move and rehoming him is not a huge challenge. The
challenge is transporting and caring for dogs like Marshall, Rikki, and
Atticus. The challenge is finding the funds to help the dogs
in need of medical care.
Thatıs where YOU come in.
We need donations to cover the medical bills for these dogs. Remember we
get no public or private funding. We rely on adoption fees and your
donations to cover our expenses.
