05/27/06 We
finally got the wiggles!! Riley was a little shy when we first picked him up
from the kennel and although he freely gave kisses and rode well in the car,
he seemed a little out of sorts. The introduction to our female boxer went
well but he still seemed wary of his new surroundings. Well, it took about
12 hours for that to wear off, because when I woke up the next morning to
let him out of his crate, he was so excited to see me that he shook the
whole extra large crate with his wiggles. Now it's all wiggles, all the
time!
Here's what we've learned about Riley in the 5 short days we've had him
in our home. He follows us everywhere. All he wants to do is be near us and
is always at the ready to receive hugs, rubs or kind words. He is very
mellow and likes to cuddle and thinks he is a lap dog. All 70 pounds of him
likes to lie on my legs until I can't feel them anymore. He likes to dance
(anything up tempo gets him moving), he's crate trained and house broken, he
doesn't pull on the leash but we're working on walking straight on one side
of us and heeling. He knows basic commands such as sit, stay and down. The
world is his lollipop, he will lick anything - your hand, your face, your
jacket, your shoe, the air, the wall... He doesn't bark or bite. Our boxer
girl has jumped all over him and he has never shown aggression or agitation.
He runs like the wind and seems to be a long distance runner. He likes
anyone that is in petting distance and has been nothing but friendly to
everyone we meet including male and female dogs. Riley does not like
linoleum (it's slippery!), mean people or loud trucks. He snores (because he
is finally sleeping well and having good dreams??) He has also managed to
talk our dog into opening his crate door to let him out and we think they
are planning a coup to take over the apartment. = )
Riley is a real lovebug and anyone would be lucky to have this sweetheart
of a dog.
4/30/06 - Riley
This is Riley. He was found as a stray along with
Uma. They are very much alike in personality and looks. Brother and
sister??
Riley loves to be pet and loves everyone he has met. Playful, sweet, and
goofy!! We will post more when we learn about this sweetheart.
