Update - Just a little update on this sweetheart named Gabby! She is doing
great in her foster home with three other dogs both male and female. She is
steadily gaining weight and her foot is continuing to heal. She will remain
in foster care until her foot heals completely then she will be ready for
her forever home.
Gabby is perfectly house trained. She sleeps in a king size bed at night
with her foster brother and sisters and is lovin life! It is so wonderful to
watch her bloom into such a happy girl. It will be a very lucky family who
gets to adopt her! She has so much to give! We will keep you posted on her
progress!

Update - Gabby is already such a different dog from the time we rescued her!
She has come out of her shell and is really so much happier now. She is
lively and acts like she is about 2 years old. She loves her foster brother
and sisters and likes all the humans she has met.
She has also been a perfect little girl with all that needs to be done
with her injured foot. She has her foot soaked 2 times a day and then
re-bandaged. She stands perfectly for this so she must know we are helping
her.
She was at the vet recently and he was impressed with how well her foot
is healing. She needs to be seen by the vet weekly still to make sure her
foot heals correctly. As soon as her foot is healed she will be spayed and
ready for her forever home.
If you have already contributed to her mountain of vet bills, THANK YOU
SO MUCH! If you have not helped us yet, will you now? We are only able to
provide this level of care because of you and your generosity. Gabby
deserves all the attention she is now getting and more! She is unconditional
love.
8/15/06 - Gabby
Gabby has had it very tough lately. She was found wandering the streets in a
local town and hung out at a flower shop for about 4 days. People saw her
almost get hit by cars and finally decided to catch her and take her to the
local shelter.
AABR received a call to take her. Once in our custody it was clear
Gabby had been surviving on the streets all alone. She is thin and has a
severe infection in her hind foot. She was taken to the animal hospital
where she has remained under the care of a great vet. Gabby's infected foot
was examined by the vet who said she was a perfect patient with a foot that
must be ever so painful. Once the foot was evaluated the vet set aside time
to work on her, but unfortunately, Gabby's foot abscess burst before he
treated her. Gabby's foot needs to be kept wrapped for the next month and
changed 2x weekly to see if it will heal on its own. We hope that will be
the case but the chances are that she will need skin graphs in order for her
to lead a normal life. She is on strong antibiotics to prevent infection.
She will remain hospitalized until the vet thinks she can go to a foster
home. This is where we really need you. Her vet bills are mounting and from
what the vet says she most likely will need surgery. There is so much damage
from the infection it has killed much of the skin. Please help us give Gabby
the chance she deserves. Please make a donation to help cover her vet care.
She is a love of a Boxer and deserves the best care we can provide. Please
help us do just that!
