Clyde, known as Dually in his current home, is sadly being returned to rescue because his owner's home is going through foreclosure and they are moving to a rental that does not allow dogs. Clyde is deaf, but he knows many different hand signals. He is great with children of all ages and loves other dogs. Clyde met one of our volunteers today and he was very friendly. She had nothing but positive things to say about this well-trained and affectionate boy.  Clyde is up to date on all vet care. He is in urgent need of a foster home to go to. Clyde only has two to three weeks before he loses his home. Please offer to foster or adopt this sweet boy!

05/2007 - Adopted!

I really have no idea why this wonderful pup has not found his forever home yet. I have raved about him from the first day he came to my home. I know that Clyde is not a Boxer, but not often do you find any dog regardless of breed that has this guys energy and personality. When I say he is one of a kind I truly mean it. Clyde as about as close to perfect as a puppy can get. He has puppy energy and he does like to play, but he is not overly active. If no one wants to play he is happy to plop down somewhere and take a nap. He is not a jumper or a barker. He is completely content to let you lead him while on a walk. My three year old walks this dog around my yard. He only pulls when he sees another dog to play with. Clyde is completely crate trained and never makes a sound or has an accident when crated. He gets along well with absolutely every dog he meets. He recently met Sonny, another AABR pup. The two hit it off right away and played like they were long lost friends.
Clyde is deaf but don't let that fool you. You would never know it. All that means is that you have to physically touch him to get his attention and always keep him leashed or in a fenced in yard for his own safety. It certainly hasn't slowed him down any.
Clyde is a puppy full of life with lots of love to give. He is very easy going and takes life in stride. He was stuck in a shelter for way to long early in his life. This pup just wants someone to love him and keep him safe. He will depend on you to make his decisions for him and be a good pack leader. At the end of the day (or anytime during the day) he would love to snuggle and lay his head on your chest and share his butterfly kisses with you while looking up at you with complete adoration.

More pics of Clyde, as if you didn't already know how adorable he is!  LOL

Clyde is just the happiest, sweetest pup you could ever meet. He is full of wiggles and kisses for anyone who shows him some attention. He is doing wonderful with his hand commands. He goes in his crate on his own and sits and waits for his meals. He gets along with the rest of the dogs like he has always been here. He loves everyone he meets including children. He continues to steal the hearts of everyone that meets him. Clyde walks well on a leash and is completely crate trained. I really have nothing but good things to say about this guy. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body.

Living with a deaf dog has it's good points. He sleeps in every day because he doesn't hear the other dogs or the kids stirring in the morning. He doesn't bark uncontrollably at passersby or company because he can't hear the other dogs bark. He doesn't bark at the bumps in night because he can't hear them. What more can you ask for.

Hurry and get your applications in. This guy is so sweet and special, he deserves a place to call home. Are you the family that will give Clyde his forever home and reap the benefits?

Clyde is doing fantastic here. He is catching on quick to what is expected of him. He will now go into his crate and wait patiently when he sees me preparing his food. He is going in and out of doors much better, although I have decided he is afraid of the dark. It seems the only time he does not want to go outside is at night. Even with the other dogs with him he is reluctant. He seems to be more cautious because he can't hear. He likes to ride and is perfect in the car. He is learning that a car is a good thing and he needn't be afraid of it.
I took Clyde to my daughters softball practice and he was a hit. He was very well behaved and soaked up all the attention. No jumping and bouncing for this guy. He just sits by your side and waits for you to call him to you. Once he gets to you however your face will be washed. He is learning that when we stop on our walks your supposed to sit and be patient. a slight tug on his leash and he is up and following again.
Clyde has surprisingly calm energy for a 6 month old puppy. He will most definitely play, but he is not overly hyper or jumpy, in fact he has yet to jump on anyone. He is very respectful.
This guy would do well in pretty much any home if you have the following things. The perfect home for Clyde would be someone with a fenced in yard (for Clyde's safety since he is deaf and wouldn't hear danger if he ran off) , another dog to be his ears (he is a bit frightful and is always watching the other dogs to tell him when something is not alright) and someone who is experienced with deaf dogs would be great. If not then just someone who is willing to continue with teaching him hand signals. He needs someone that is willing to get up and actually touch him and show him what is expected of him.
Have I mentioned he is dream in the crate? Never makes a sound. Just lays down and goes right to sleep. I have to wake him up in the morning to let him out. He has not barked since he came. I am not sure he knows how. I know there is the perfect home for Clyde out there somewhere. Is it you?

Clyde has been here for 24 hours now and let me tell you, this little guy is just the sweetest gem. He is absolutely adorable. We never heard a peep out of him on the two hour car ride home. Upon returning home he was introduced to my pack of five dogs. He was initiated by American Bulldog that always gives the newcomers a hard time. He took it all in stride. He let my dog know he wanted no part of fighting and they have been the best of friends ever since.

Clyde has been in a shelter for an awful long time for a puppy of his age. He has lived I'll say, "a sheltered life" They took good care of him at the shelter taking him for walks, but his home since Feb has been a kennel. He is very leery about his new surroundings. He walks well on the leash but right now is content to follow a few feet behind me. I will give him a nudge to tell him it is alright and he does fine. Clyde is also learning about going out of a door. He does not want to. He really has no idea why he should be allowed to go outdoors all by himself. With the encouragement of my female Boxer, he will tiptoe out into the yard. My boxer will stand outside at the door and bark at Clyde. He of course can't hear her because he is deaf. But he can see her and he does go to her. He will play outside with the dogs...  He hasn't stopped playing. The two old girls here keep to themselves and Clyde has been respectful of that. He has made fast friends with everyone else.

Clyde will be learning basic puppy manners while he is here. How to go potty outside, it's not ok to counter surf, don't chew on what is not yours, etc... He will also be learning some hand signals so his new owners can communicate with him. He is a dream in the crate. He goes in when you stand in front of the door and point and never makes a sound the whole time he is in it. He was also good about holding his potty time till morning. He has gone in the crate several times today on his own to relax when no one wants to play.

I just can't say enough good about this little guy. He is cute as a button, gets along with all my pack, loves the kids (including my three yr old), completely crate trained, and is very receptive to corrections when made so he understands. You better hurry with those applications because this guy won't last long.

3/05/07 - Meet Clyde

A volunteer at a local animal shelter told us about this young guy...

He is a 5 month old Boxer / American Bulldog mix who is available for adoption and deaf.  This guy is too good to be true and too cute for his own good and is attracting all kinds of adopter attention but from inexperienced people who want the cute deaf puppy.

We are looking for a committed home to offer this young pup leadership and a truly forever home and not just until they discover he poops and pees and doesn't come when they call him! (seeing as he's only 5 months old and deaf)

If you are interested, and think you might be able to be this little guy's forever home, fill out an application and contact Sandy@adoptaboxerrescue.com

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
