Spring has passed, Summer is here and our Sonny is developing into a fine young man. He is now 7 months old and 50 lbs, and continues to be a fast learner, always willing to do what it takes to please his people; Sonny is just the friendliest guy around! Wherever he goes, people want to meet him and he is happy to oblige with his gentle greetings and soft kisses.
He is loving the lake, swimming after tennis balls, leaping in off the dock, sometimes just swimming around just for the love of it.
Many people have fallen for Sonny but unfortunately cannot quite meet his needs.
Sonny would love a home to call his own so if you think that you are the one for him and have another dog for company and play, a secure fenced yard  to relax and chill with his buddies and are able to offer him the exercise that a young healthy boy needs to keep him happy, balanced and fulfilled,  please fill out an application form: he is checking his mailbox daily for his forever family.

We can honestly say that there are nothing but great things to say about this happy little man. Sonny's toilet training is progressing very nicely and he will pee on command: very handy on those chilly nights. He is a very cuddly pup and is more than happy to cozy up with you at the end of a day of fun. Recently we visited Petco and Sonny was full of wonder, exploring every aisle and meeting new people; all the staff came over to say hello and remarked on what a handsome boy he was and what a great example of his bully breed. A big ol confident male Bulldog came swaggering over to him and Sonny greeted him like a long lost pal.  In the warm weather recently, our dogs took their first dip in the lake and without hesitation, Sonny was right in there with them, no fear, just a boy having a splash around on a spring day! Sonny is just a wonderful all round good buddy for any responsible home. We are thoroughly enjoying having him to stay - he puts a smile on your face and you cannot be anything other than happy around him, but we know there is someone special out there who deserves to share in some of Sonny's puppy adventures too! Sonny would ideally love a home with another young dog to play with or one where he can meet others for regular play dates and a nice secure fenced yard where he can romp in safety please.

3/13/07 - SONNY

Introducing Sonny; who is just about the most delightful little guy that anyone could wish to meet.  Sonny's owners who bred him, didn't have time for the needs of a young pup so off he came into the safe haven of rescue. He was  home raised with his mom, 8 brothers and sisters and a host of children of all ages from toddlers to teenagers.

Sonny, loves his bedroom ( crate ) where he sleeps in warm cozy blankies with his teddy; and as soon as he sees his food being prepared he runs and waits patiently inside to eat. He's a super fast learner and  catches on very quickly- he just loves to please. He also walks nicely on the leash and sits when asked; he's especially happy to do something for a cookie!

All of the six dogs that he lives with love Sonny, he is very respectful of his elders and you'll see in the photos that he just loves playing with Caesar, another AABR boy, they are just the best of friends.

Naturally like all bully breeds, Sonny needs a home where he will have good calm, consistent leadership, firm but kind; and continued training to help him become another great ambassador for his breed.

Could you be that special home for this boy?

Two things a guaranteed: Spring is in the air, and this great little guy will surely fill your home with sunshine!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
