Otis has really come out of his shell since he has been in foster. He has turned out to be a very good boy. He gets along very well with the female and the male in the house. The female is dominant but the male is not. Otis just kind of goes with the flow and causes no problems. He did not do well in the crate the first week but he now has free run of the house night and day with the other dogs and he is a perfect gentleman.

He loves to play with his toys until he crashes. He loves the freedom of the fenced in yard and just runs and runs. He would probably do well with a fenced in yard for him to run to burn his energy. If he does not get his playtime he is very restless. He has lots of energy so he will need a home that is active. He is not a couch potato. 

He has been good with any other dogs or people he has met. I have not however seen his reaction to cats. He is good about sharing his food but not his toys. He does not get aggressive with them but he will hoard and hide them from the other dogs.

He loves to snuggle and be near you. He is just a fun lovin guy who just wants to be loved. He is very well behaved and knows basic commands very well. He does however need some leash manners and tends to pull a bit. If you lead an active lifestyle and have the time to devote to a furry best freind...OTIS is your man!

Otis is a 5.5 year old pure bred male fawn boxer. His birthday is 11-27-01. This guy was surrendered to the  SPCA by his owner because he could no longer care for him- his mother was moving into the home so Otis had to go.

He is described as "lovable, loyal and 'thinks he's a lapdog!'" Otis is 61 lbs and in very good shape and health. He loves squeeky toys and playing! He needs someone that will go slow and give him time to get used to his new family.  He's scared and nervous in the kennel, and needs a foster home, or better yet a furever home, right away. His ideal furever home will be experienced boxer people that just want to make this great dog happy.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.  

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.  

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.
