Bob has been found to be good with cats!

10/6/07

Bob has been in our home for only four days, and all we can say is, "What a wonderful dog!" From the moment he wagged his happy tail out of the kennel, and hopped politely onto the backseat of our station wagon, Bob has been a great guy. He was eager to go for a ride, and he handled the two-plus-hour journey like a champ. He's super friendly, calm, and easy going, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like to have a good time. Bob loves to play with other dogs. He loves toys, too, especially balls. He made quick friends with our five-year-old male boxer mix, and our two-year-old female boxer. Bob is so friendly with all the humans and dogs he meets, he seems to think everyone is his long lost friend. We were thrilled to discover that Bob is perfectly house trained! No accidents. No chewing. None! When he entered our home for the first time, he calmly explored the whole house, tail wagging the entire time, before returning to the kitchen, where he snuggled on the rug. On top of being lovable and house trained, Bob is smart and obedient. He already knows basic commands, 'come', 'sit', and 'shake', and he's a really quick learner. He's learned to sit pretty for his treats, and when I point to his dog bed at bedtime, he gets right on it, and curls up for the night. He likes to please. When Bob started sniffing a bag of groceries, I said "No sniff", and he immediately changed course. Bob also surprised us by mastering the pet door in only one day. Bob is so terrific on a leash, I'm able to take all three dogs walking at the same time. It doesn't matter if he's wearing a collar, or a harness, he just floats along. Before our walk, he sits calmly while I attach the collar or harness. Afterward, he's just as pleasant while I remove it. Bob is equally great about food: At meal time, he seems to love it if I talk to him while he eats. He wags his tail, and lets me hold his food bowl. I pick his dropsies from the floor, and hand-feed them to him. He's very gentle. We think Bob is a great candidate for a variety of families. He's so easy going...he loves a good belly rub, or an ear scratching, or anything in between. We haven't found a sensitive spot on his happy-go-lucky body!

9/26/07 - Bob

Bob was brought into a shelter as a stray. This dog is AMAZING! He's so friendly, sweet and kind and just seems to have the best personality and outlook on life. He's happy as a clam as long as he has someone by his side.

He met many other dogs at an outreach event and really liked the older, calmer, more polite dogs and absolutely loved every single kid he met!

He's pretty easy to walk considering his size and knows "sit" and "paw"- too cute! Everyone is in love with him and wants him to get the best home possible- fill out the application for Bob today!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
