12/22/07 Update
- Roscoe has revealed himself to be a big, silly, fun loving guy! He wakes
each morning with a smile on his face, and a glint in his eye. If he isn't
eating, or sleeping, seems he's looking for a good time. If he can't find
fun with a toy, another dog, or a human, he might entertain himself with the
contents of a trash can. Yes, you'll need to secure all the waste
receptacles in your home, if you share your life with Roscoe. He can do
amazing things with just a few spent paper towels and tissues!
Although Roscoe is crate trained, we rarely use the crate. He just
doesn't need it. Roscoe is not at all destructive, when left alone.
(Remember: secure the waste cans) We knew that Roscoe was house-trained, but
we're still surprised that he hasn't had a single accident in the house.
Roscoe loves interacting with people, and he seems to really like men. When
I take him to work, he goes right for the guys. It's not surprising: I tell
my friends that, if Roscoe were a human, he'd probably be a rugby player!
He's a rough-and-tumble kind of guy.
We think that Roscoe would do well in a home with active adults, who want
to share their lives with a great dog. Roscoe has lots of love to give, and
he'll make you a wonderfully devoted friend. If you're strong, active, and
have good canine leadership skills, Roscoe would love to hear from you.

Update
- Roscoe has been in his foster home since Halloween evening. Since he'd
been in the lonely dog kennel for over a month, we wanted to transition
Roscoe slowly to his new life, where he'd be living with all the comforts of
a real (foster!) home. He is adjusting very well to "life on the outside".
Roscoe has told us a lot about himself, in just two weeks: He's
housetrained, and also does well with the crate. He's very good with food,
doing a happy-tail wag when we pet him and talk to him while he eats his
meals. He accepts treats very gently. Not only that, he catches them in
mid-air, if you toss them to him!
Roscoe is very receptive to touch. He enjoys the usual petting of his
ears, belly, and base of the tail; he also calmly submits to a vigorous
toweling of body and paws, after a romp in the rain. It's a cinch to clip
his nails. Roscoe has quite the physique. He's beautifully proportioned,
very well muscled, and his gorgeous mahogany coat is so shiny, and it really
does feel like velvet. He has beautiful white markings on his chest, as you
can see in the photo where he's looking straight up. He is very athletic,
and he packs a lot of power in that stunning body.
We think Roscoe would make a great sporting companion. Flyball, anyone?
Roscoe started going to the office with me, and he's one big bubbly boy when
he comes through the door. He makes the rounds, saying hello to everyone.
It's great to learn that he's well socialized. Roscoe knows basic commands,
and he's learning more. He is also making progress walking on the leash.
Each walk is better than the one before it. Roscoe is one smart cookie, and
it's a real pleasure seeing him soaking up all his training. Roscoe needs
and deserves a strong, committed home, where he can continue learning (and
teaching) what it means to be a companion dog.

Update
- Roscoe is a delight to be around, his tail never stops wagging. Roscoe
acts like big puppy. He loves to play with toys. He is happy playing
alone but just loves it if you join in the fun and throw his toy for him! He
will work for a cookie! He sits on a dime! He know the down and the wait
command and come to you with a voice and hand signal. He seems to adore men
but is very happy with the ladies too! He very much wants to please you and
is easily directed when your working with him.
Roscoe is looking for a family who will enjoy the same enthusiasm of life
that he has.

Roscoe is a beautiful dark fawn colored dog. He has natural ears and
tail. I believe he is just a little over a year old, two at the most. He
has very beautiful features and dark brown eyes that plead to go out. He
has tried, on several occasions, to get into my car, so he seems to like to
go for rides.
Since Roscoe has been being walked at the kennel he has developed his own
little personality. Sometimes we have to wait awhile for the dogs to "come
out of their shell".
Roscoe is definitely feeling better about life. He loves to race around
in the fenced yard, chasing balls and toys, then tries to take them back to
his kennel. He is a big puppy and just wants to play. He is strong but
when disciplined, he is very willing to please. He will work for cookies!
He is a really good dog, very loving, and really needs a family to love him
and play with him. He loves his walks too. He seems to get along well with
other dogs in the kennel and would really like a chance to play with some of
the girls!
Please consider being that family that will give Roscoe his forever home.

- Roscoe
Hi, Roscoe here! I just wanted to give you some info
on me so you can decide if you’d like to give me a chance to live with you.
I made it up here from down south thanks to the kindness of the Greg Biffle
Foundation for Animals. When I lived in the south, my Daddy could not afford
to feed me so a nice lady took me in and taught me a bunch of stuff. I can
ring a wind chime with my nose if you hang it on a door knob so I can let
you know when I have to go potty! Pretty cool, huh? I can also sit, lay
down, and roll over.
I’m not “fixed” yet but that’s happening shortly (not sure what that
means, but if my rescuers are going to do it, I'm sure it's in my best
interest). I’m also crate trained.
I’m a little shy at first but I warm up very quickly, as soon as I can
tell that you are a good leader, and I don't have to do that job... And I
love to snuggle and give kisses once I get to know you.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the
information on our
Adoption Procedures,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
