11/06/07 - Memorial It is with great
sadness that I share the news that Sweetums is gone. She had cancer
that could not be cured. The treatment is harsh for this type of cancer and
the oncologist and vet felt the most humane thing to do was to end her
suffering. After a good special meal and some one on one time with all
the people that have cared, loved, and comforted her around the clock, she
went to meet all of our other friends at the rainbow bridge.
We don't know Sweetums past but we know that for the last 2 weeks she has
gotten the best care any dog could have ever gotten. Nothing has been spared
for Sweetums and I can tell you from the first time she wiggled her little
nub she knew the kind side of humans.
To all those who have helped Sweetums - we thank you for giving her the best
fighting chance. We did our best, but it was too late.
Adopt A Boxer Rescue will continue to rescue her friends!

Thank you for all your emails
with well wishes and prayers for Sweetums. Here is a update ...
Sweetums is still very anemic and although eating, not gaining the weight
that we would anticipate. We have found through ultrasound that her
stomach and intestinal walls have thickened. She has come through a
short sedation to retrieve multiple biopsies from her intestinal track, and
is being fed gently through a tube so that we can supply her with the
nutrition she needs. We will update you when we get the results of the
biopsies back and we will then
be able to tell better if we can help her.
Keep her in your thoughts...

Sweetums was not eating as
well as she should so we brought her to our favorite veterinarian in New
York. The first thing we noticed is how pale she was. After tests it was
necessary to give Sweetums a blood transfusion. This poor dog. I can't even
explain to you what this dog looks like.
Keep Sweetums in your prayers!!!

OMG - This is unbelievable...
Sweetums is a love of a boxer who is so emaciated. She is eating every 2
hours in hope that she will live. She arrived in rescue after a week in a
vet hospital on IV nutrition.
Sweetums needs a foster home where someone can feed her often.
We will update you as we learn more. |
