02/11/08- Duke is turning into such a
happy little guy since he came to stay with us. He is a little bundle of
unending energy. He loves to play & wrestle more than anything. He likes the
backyard, but would rather be wherever the family is. He does go out to run
with Eve his new best friend, but usually beats her to the back step to come
in. It is obvious how little attention he got in his original home, and how
desperately he appreciates it in his foster home.
His manners are pretty good, considering how excited he gets when offered
some TLC. He is quick to flop on the floor & roll over for a good belly rub,
and sits relatively quickly when told he needs to settle down a bit, and
offers a paw as soon as asked.
I really, really like this fella.

Duke was pretty shy when he first arrived from West Virginia. He was
obviously scared and confused about what was happening to him.
He has been in our home for about 3 weeks now, and his personality is
blossoming. It is amazing how well he gets along with our family of pets, 2
boxers, 1 Chihuahua mix, a cat, and 3 birds. He actually is pretty
submissive to the other dogs, especially our older boxer, and the Chihuahua.
In fact the other day he was seriously annoying the Chihuahua, and she let
him know about it by baring some teeth and barking right in his face. Duke
immediately sat down, and started whimpering his apology to her. I just had
to laugh,

Duke was surrendered to a shelter because his family did not have time
for him. He previously lived with another dog and a ten year old child.
Duke is a small boy who needs to gain some weight. He needs someone that
will go slow and give him time to get used to his new family. Duke was very
scared and nervous in the shelter. He is reported to enjoy car rides and
Duke did really well on the transport to his foster home. Duke will be in
foster with other dogs and cats.
We will update his page with new information once his foster home gets to
know him better.
Please give this boy a chance at a committed and forever home! |
