If Rosie isn't the perfect houseguest then we haven't ever met that person. She's been such a lady since she arrived here. Perfectly housebroken, very sweet with everyone, especially my daughter, gentle around her food and with the other dogs. She can pull on her leash a little but settles in nicely beside you to walk once she remembers what she's supposed to be doing.

Rosie is very calm in the house, and very seldom gets excited. She's got a big bark if someone comes to the door (a HUGE bark, that makes you wonder "where did that come from?!?") and then greets visitors very nicely once she's sure you know they're there. She gets all wiggly when someone in our family comes home and I think I even saw her starting to play with our dogs tonight! That's very exciting, she's just kind of watched the two of them at a distance up until now! But outside she's an active, bouncy, running around in the yard girl. She's almost like another dog altogether! "Inside Rosie and Outside Rosie" Either way she's just fantastic and we love her very much!

1/26/08 -

Intake Reason - Rosie was surrendered to AABR by her owner after an unfortunate incident with the neighbors cat. Rather than worry about another problem that could end with Rosie being euthanized they chose to surrender her to AABR.

Update - Rosie arrived here on Saturday after a few days in the kennel and a loooong car ride with a wonderful volunteer. This poor girl had been in the same home her entire 8 years and was very stressed. After a brisk walk (in the cold air) she settled down in a quiet room to collect herself. On Sunday she had a little more time to acclimatize herself and this girl is really a gem, she had a little more freedom in the house & has had perfect manners. Now tha! t she knows where the door is she goes directly to it and asks! to go After her first night Rosie has happily cleaned her food dish twice a day, sometimes plain sometimes with a little kefir (like yogurt) in her food. She will sit when she's asked and also downs' with a little encouragement. She's running around in the snow in the yard with the other dogs (closely supervised of course) and has found a cushion she particularly enjoys up against a heater. This girl is a gem who needs a home with absolutely no cats but if you can just meet that one little need of hers she'll reward you with a lifetime of love!

I Am A

Rosie is an AABR Give a Dog a Name dog - named in honor of our longtime supporter Rich Manning's Rosie.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
