5/29/10 - MEMORIAL
In Loving Memory of Keedo B. Buritto
It was with
breaking hearts that we said goodbye to our sweet boy, Keedo.
It was love at first sight that day he was at the
Petsmart with his foster mom, Colleen, doing an outreach event.
We weren't looking for another dog. I tried to stay away, but who could
resist. Seeing him a few more times was all it took and 3 months
later he came to share his life with us.
Never was there a boy who would guarantee a laugh everyday, no matter your
mood. He was all personality - a giant goofball. Keedo was by far
the most easy-going dog around. He loved to go. It didn't matter
where or how far, the second he saw the collar and lead come out, he ran
around in circles, hitting his big head, banging into things, and jumping
as if he were a pup.
He continued to attend events as an ambassador for the rescue, and always
drew attention. There was never a person, big or small, a dog or cat
that Keedo did not like or that did not like him. He stole the
hearts of many and I was so proud to be his mom.
Since adopting this wonderful senior almost 2 years ago, he fought
several medical obstacles.
Our deal was that he would fight and I would do whatever it took, and
together we did. We always seemed to win. His symptoms came on
suddenly, and on May 14th, he was diagnosed with advanced
Lymphoma that
had spread. He had a tumor about the size of his heart right next
to the heart and multiple others throughout his lungs.
They were all pressing on his esophagus, making it difficult to eat. We
opted for prednisone therapy to keep him comfortable
and it worked great. He started eating and playing and taking walks.
Seeing him do well made us very happy, but we knew his time would be
short. The day of the 23rd, he still looked and acted normally - he
even enjoyed his favorite food, (Pizza). Later that evening, his
heart began to beat erratically and his pain was evident. The e-vet
said he didn't have much time. His fear and discomfort ended as we held
him in his last minutes before leaving for the bridge.
We will love him forever. Till we meet again, my sweet boy.

Keedo passed the AKC Canine
Good Citizen test with flying colors! Keedo is really the perfect dog
companion. He is great with kids all ages, dogs, cats, and all people. Keedo
had his dentistry work last week and is officially good to go. We have been
to several AABR outreach events and everyone that meets this boy absolutely
loves him. His fur is like velvet and his smile and look of love in his eyes
is so heartwarming. This boy deserves only the best!!

Keedo is such a sweetheart
senior--a real love and such a snuggler. Keedo loves other dogs and has
amazing energy for his age. I definitely think he could keep up with another
younger dog pal.
If you have never had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy a senior boxer,
you really should. They bring so much joy to your home and provide true,
unconditional love and companionship without all the fuss of a younger pup.
Please open your home to this sweet, old soul. I can't believe the
X-owners had requested to euthanize this amazing guy because of some
dentistry. He still has SOOOO much love to give! Every time I look over at
him, his little tail starts a wagging like crazy--he will melt your heart!

The shelter sent us this email:
We got another owner surrender in this morning. Actually, they requested he
be put to sleep simply because it has "bad teeth". Kilo is a predominantly
white boxer with brown markings. Very very sweet, 8 years old, needs a
dentistry. He is a bit skinny, but otherwise in good shape, and very smart-
knows sit, stay,come, etc. |
