05/29/08 Update
-Cleo has been living with me and her foster dog sister for over a month
now, and she is just a joy to have around. She's housebroken, crate-trained,
and perfect in the house. She was crated the first few nights and times when
I was not here, but has had full fun of the house since. The longest she has
been alone was 8 1/2 hours, and she was fine. Although Cleo adores her
submissive foster dog sister, she shows a lot of interest in other dogs, and
does not appear to be particularly fond of dominant natured dogs.
Now that her spay is over and she is completely recovered, we're planning
on visiting some dog parks to work some socializing into her schedule. She
loves every person she comes across, and warms up immediately to new
friends. She would give her life for a belly rub or a scratch behind her
ears. She's a coddler as well, and sleeps as close as she can possibly get
to me every night. Foster sister's not too happy since Cleo's a pretty big
girl and takes up a lot of room in a queen sized bed. But, she understands
because she knows that all those nights she was curled up with me, Cleo was
probably sleeping on a cement slab somewhere. Cleo loves attention, and will
sometimes tap you with her paw, but we ignore this as she is not allowed to
demand attention. Her recall is amazing off leash. She will not leave
my side, unless she's following her foster sister around the yard. She only
needs to hear my voice to come right back to me. She responds immediately to
the word "no" if she's feeling naughty. Cleo loves car rides and walks. Her
little back end goes crazy when she sees me pick up the leash, and whines at
night if we miss our walk. She's wonderful on lead, by the way.
She is amazingly laid back for a boxer, and as long as she gets some
exercise, she is content and settled. If you're someone who enjoys a daily
evening stroll through your neighborhood, and are seeking a companion who
will cherish all the attention you are willing to give, Cleo would be the
perfect girl for you.

- Cleo
Meet Cleo, a beautiful female boxer estimated to be
around 4 years old. Cleo was found as a stray and she was very stressed in
the shelter. She is now in a foster home and settling in well. Her foster
mom reports she gets along well with her doggy sister. She is housebroken
and crate trained. She will be spayed this week and ready for adoption.
We will update her page once we know more about her. Thank you for your
interest in this sweet girl!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the
information on our
Adoption Procedures,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
