Update -Rambo is still waiting for his forever home. He is a highly intelligent athletic boy that is eager to learn. Rambo needs an in charge leader. A leader that will set the rules and consistently make him follow. This boy is a typical adolescent boxer that will fill the role of leader if he thinks it is vacant. He also needs a K9 owner that has the time to exercise Rambo physically and mentally.

This boy is agile so someone into agility training would be great! Rambo would like a home where someone is home most of day or has the luxury of taking him to work with them.

He needs work on his dog socialization skills; not people canine socialization skills. For now he would do best in a home with no other dogs and definitely no cats.

If you are committed to this process, put in your application to adopt Rambo today.

4/23/08 - Rambo

This is Rambo, another young boxer that had no room to run. Rambo's owners lived in an apartment with 2 young children and no yard for Rambo to run. Sad but true this is yet another case of someone taking on this intelligent, athletic breed and not educating themselves on the needs of this breed.

The Boxer is happy, high-spirited, playful, curious and energetic. Highly intelligent, eager and quick to learn, but can be stubborn and sneaky. The Boxer is a good dog for competitive obedience. Constantly on the move, bonding very closely with the family. Loyal and affectionate, Boxers are known for the way they get along so well with children. A well brought-up and properly socialized Boxer will also get along with his own kind and other household pets. Known visitors will be welcomed boisterously. They are always keen to work and play. Boxers need lots of human companionship. They can be rather boisterous and even in old age are still extremely athletic. This breed is noted for courage. Training should start young and be firm and consistent. This breed requires a dominant owner. An active, athletic breed, Boxers need daily work or exercise, as well as a long brisk, daily walk. All dogs, regardless of size or breed, need to be taken on daily walks, hikes, jogs, runs, bike rides or rollerblading. Taking your dog for a walk is an important ritual in keeping your dog balanced.  A lack of exercise and the mental energy a proper walk releases can cause many behavioral problems in a dog. Rambo needs a chance to be a great dog. A leader committed to letting Rambo be the boxer he is! If you are committed to daily exercise put in an application to adopt Rambo today!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
