07/08/08 - From Cinnamon's foster and forever mom
... Memorial to Cinnamon
Those mournful brown eyes, peering at me out of the that amazingly sweet
face with the wrinkled brow.
She did not want to get into the crate in my car, she was watching
Charlotte from Eagle kennel.
On the ride home, I talked to her non-stop while she peered at my son and
myself out of the crate with that still worried expression on her face.
Cinnamon made herself at home immediately in our house. She found the
doggie sofa soon after entering our front door. My three dogs (2 younger
boxers and an old gentlemen English Bulldog) adjusted to her almost
immediately except for a brief scuffle with my female. Cinn-Cinn was
definitely part of the pack after 3 days.
Cinnamon seemed glad to be with us! She became my constant companion, my
sidekick. Fortunately for me, I am currently unemployed so I was home with
her most all the time. When I left the room, she followed, no matter what I
was working on, she laid close by and watched over me. She even went
as far as pushing the bathroom door open when I closed it, "What do you mean
by closing me out????" She was a character.
The only time I saw her get excited was when it was chow time. She
developed a little habit like my male boxer. She would put her nose in the
air and tell me "UUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!". Let's hurry it up there, we are all
hungry!
She loved car rides. From the first (without the crate though!) she would
get in and settle right down on the back seat like she had been riding in
one her whole life.
Seems everyone that met Cinnamon loved her. She was gentle, loving and
outgoing. Everyone she met just happened to need a good cuddle and of course
a quick swipe of the tongue. Quite a few older people swore if they were
younger, they would adopt her, including my mother. This dog just loved
people.
She carried herself with dignity and grace. She was not in any hurry to
get where she was going, she just enjoyed her surroundings while she was
getting there.
Cinnamon met her soon to be adoptive parents last Wednesday evening.
They were from NJ and fell in love with Cinnamon immediately. They
were all set to get her last week. Unfortunately Cinnamon developed some
health problems that led from 2 vet visits at a clinic last week to her
final vet visit on July 7th with my personal vet who operated on her. She
never got to go home to her loving new" forever home".
Cinnamon was suffering from cancer in her lymph nodes plus internal
bleeding.
She was a very sick little girl so Karen did what was best for Cinn and
allowed the vet to not bring her out of the anesthesia. She went
peacefully.
After a rough life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill, I was fortunate
enough to share the last 5-6 weeks of her life, and in that time grow to
love her as one of my own.
She brought lots of joy for the short while she was with us. My dogs and
I will sorely miss her.
Rest in peace sweet angel. Your hard life is over, you can go home to
your maker.

Update -Cinnamon is
recovering nicely from her surgery. As you can see from her new
picture, she looks like a new dog!
She has a sweet loving nature. She loves people. She walks on leash very
nicely. No tugging, nice "heel" without being told. She sits when you stop
walking. Seems to love people of all ages. Is housebroken. Gets along well
with other dogs. Wants to be close to you! She is very calm and laid back.
She is a joy to have in our home. Made herself at home almost immediately.
We gave her some time to settle in and then started
taking Cinnamon along in the car...
she rides like she has been doing it all her life. She lays quietly in
the back with no fuss. Sits in the car till you come back out from doing
your errands etc.
I then took her to my Mom's house again
to my daughter's house. She was exposed to the dogs in both homes and did
great. No aggression in this girl. I do not think she would harm a fly.
She loves my 18 month old grandbaby.
She is great with kids(toddlers,5 yrs olds, 8 and 10 yrs old.)
She also met my nieces daughter(13) and
son (7) and their rescue dog. She aced out again.
I cannot find anything wrong with this
dog. She is so great. She is just one little love bug!

This is Cinnamon who had to have the chain cut from her neck since the
growth was so huge. She made it through surgery this morning and is
resting. She really needs to rehab in a quiet home.

- Cinnamon
We were called by a PA breeder to come get Cinnamon
and Shirley. He no longer needed them and Cinnamon was "SICK IN THE NECK"
Those of you who watched Oprah's show on the puppy mills of PA have an
idea what these 2 poor girls have gone through in their lives.
These 2 dogs lived together in the same small kennel and were breed over
and over again.
Cinnamon saw one of our vets and she had an abscess in her neck. Surgery
was done and she is recovering nicely. She will have no lasting problems.
Cinnamon is a calm girl and Shirley is more energetic, both are VERY,
VERY sweet.
