4/19/11 - MEMORIAL To
our Dearest Sadie Mae:
You came to us in May 2008 as a foster. You had been found
as a stray, wandering outside a hospice and AABR took you in hopes
of finding your forever home. It didn't take long for that to happen as
you quickly found your loving, forever home right here with us. Your age
was estimated at 6-7 years old, and as a senior we knew your time with us
would not be as long as we would hope for, but we would love you and care
for you everyday that we were given.
Three weeks ago, when you started coughing, the vet told us
you were showing signs of heart failure (dilated
cardiomyopathy). You first responded well to medication, but your
heart rate remained too high. We took you to a cardiologist in
Towson, MD and
although we expected the worst, we hoped for the best. The cardiologist
told us that your heart was just wearing out and told us you could be
gone from us in days, weeks, but certainly no more than 6 months.
Our hearts were heavy, but we were determined to do
whatever we could and hold you dear until the end. Sadly, your heart
gave its last beat less than 24 hours later and on April 16th at 9 :45
a.m. you passed away in our arms.
We now have a great void in our hearts and home that only
time will heal, but you will always remain in our hearts. We find solace
in knowing that you are now happy and with a healthy heart and you are
waiting for us at the
Rainbow Bridge.
Rest In Peace, Sadie Mae. We 'll forever miss you.
With our Greatest Love, Mom and Dad

Sadie is a sweet boxer girl estimated to be around 7 years old. She was
found wandering around a hospice and was brought to the shelter. The
volunteers at the shelter reported that Sadie was full of kisses and a lot
of charm. The following summary describes Sadie's first week in her foster
home:
"Sadie has fit right into our home. She is living with a geriatric
cat and a miniature poodle. She'll sometimes turn her head to watch the cat
walk by her, but most of the time she's comfortable to just ignore her.
Sadie is great with kids, including my grandkids which are 1 and 4 years
old. I had a houseful of people here on Mother's Day and she wanted to meet
them all and was not overwhelmed with the activity and noise. Sadie loves to
take her two walks per day and does terrific on a leash. Her first love is a
car ride. She'd sell her soul to live in the car and go wherever it goes
whenever it goes. She's generally calm, but will show her spunk when we come
home from work. She is happy to see us with the boxer wiggles and the nubbin
in motion. Sadie prefers to sleep by herself on her own bed. She is very
well mannered, obedient, and loves people. Sadie has had full run of the
house while we are at work and she has had absolutely no problems. Sadie
will be a wonderful girl for a lucky family."
Please give Sadie the forever home she deserves! |
