5/21/09 Molly has been with us for
four weeks, and is making great progress in a couple areas. Physically, she
has put on a few pounds and her coat has turned silky and shiny. Socially,
she is really learning how to play, especially with our other boxer. Molly
watches him and imitates the things he does (luckily he's a really well
behaved boy). Their current game is "bet you can't get this toy" - they take
turns with one teasing and the other chasing. We have taken her to the dog
park a few times when it wasn't crowded, and she interacted and played
normally with the other dogs there. She's still frightened by aggressive
dogs in our neighborhood (for example, those who bark at us from their yard)
but is making progress socializing with balanced dogs. As for her skills,
Molly is learning how to come, sit, and stay. She's also making progress
with walking, and once we burn off a little energy she will usually walk
right next to us. She listens really well, and will stop pulling or trying
to chase squirrels and rabbits if we tell her no. We've even been working on
leave it and drop it around the house. A typical boxer, she listens really
well and shows a strong willingness to please her humans. We do not use a
crate for Molly, so she's free to roam the house, and she doesn't have
accidents or do any damage. Molly is a smart, sweet, affectionate dog
who will make a great companion - to someone who is willing to scratch her
belly regularly!

Meet Molly! She is a lovely girl rescued from a Lancaster puppy mill.
She has only been with us for a few days, and we're still getting to know
her, but so far she is a delight. She has a very sweet disposition, and has
even done her first adoption day at Petsmart where she won over everyone she
met.
Being a puppy mill girl means she's lacking in most training, but I don't
think it will take her too long to catch on. She appears to be crate
trained, but needs housetraining, which we have started, and will need to
learn all of her basic commands. Molly has met our resident cat, and seemed
relatively disinterested. She enjoys the freedom she has here roaming around
the house and yard, getting used to a new and very different life. She is
starting to play with the toys we have and is tentatively running and
wrestling with Eve and
Treasure - our
other foster girls.! Please check out their pages as well.
All in all she is adjusting well, and is ready for her forever home to
teach her all she needs to know, and give her the love and care she has been
waiting for all of her life.
Won't you please make Molly a loving member of your family today? |

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure,
by clicking on the link at the top of this page,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
