Opal was adopted a few weeks ago, but her mom is returning her to rescue because she feels it is in Opal's best interest for her to join a more active household. She is currently in a home without another dog and we are looking for a home with a completely fenced yard and a male dog to use as her "ears."

Opal's mom sent the following update: "Opal is absolutely the most loving, adorable puppy that I have ever met. She is timid, but not shy, and will go to anyone who pays her attention. She has been around children of all ages. Opal is gaining confidence and learning to explore in the yard.  She will need a home with somebody who can continue her crate training and housetraining. Opal will thrive tremendously in a household with a hearing dog to entertain and guide her. She has been around many other dogs and is very playful. Apply today for this sweet girl!!

8/20/09 - Meet Opal

A week after coming into rescue, Sheena unexpectedly delivered a litter of puppies in the kennel. Since Sheena was a stray, we can't be positive they are purebred boxer puppies, but they certainly look like boxers at this time.

They are now four weeks old and doing well in their foster home. These babies will be ready for their new homes at the beginning of September. They are eating well and are very playful.

Opal is a white female with a few tiny fawn patches on her side. We are looking for a home with a fenced yard and hopefully a brother for Opal to play with!

Puppies require a lot of work - please make sure you are committed and ready! To be considered for a puppy, you must have the time and energy to work on socialization and housebreaking. Somebody should be home enough to accommodate the needs of a puppy this age.

We are taking applications now for these adorable babies, but obviously there are only four and we will get many more apps for them than that.  Please keep an open mind and consider how much easier one of our older boxers might fit into your family.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.  

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.  

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.
