Mocha NY

4/13/11 - After spending the last 9 months in kennels, Mocha isn't about to loose track of her new family.  LOL!

They sent us this photo...

"Mike took this picture from the top of the stairs.  He was home alone with Mocha working in the office.  I guess this gave her a birdseye view of possible intruders while still keeping her eye on Mike's whereabouts.  Funny place for a snooze - silly Mocha."

03/15/11

Hello....My name is Mocha. I am a beautiful little girl who is 5-6 years young. I have the energy of a 3 year old boxer, but can be laid back like a 5 year old. I'm told that I am a very smart girl. I know many commands and even know to wait and let whoever is walking me go in and out the door before me. I would love to be with a nice active family.  One who would likes to go for walks because I do walk nicely on my leash. It would also be nice to have a yard to run in.

I'm at a new kennel now and it's closer to the volunteers so they come and take me out several times a week. It's soooo much better now, and they are learning so much about me.  I go to this house where I get to play in a big yard, and rest in this nice comfy bed. They say I'm very sweet. I just need someone to give me a place to chill out and relax.  I have been in the kennel way to long. (5 months at the old kennel that was an hour from anyone.)  The best home for me would be one without young children.  And  I wouldn't mind being the only dog.  But if I was to share my home with another dog, probably a submissive dude would be good.  Well I hope to hear from you soon.  I'm sure there is someone out there who will give me a home because everyone that meets me loves me!

Love,
Mocha

New pictures of this beautiful girl - please offer to foster Mocha so she can get out of the kennel and back into a home!

2/21/11

Mocha has been at the kennel for over 5 months. This poor girl has been waiting for a foster or forever home since September. She is a good girl, but to no fault of her own... she was not in the right home.  Please do not overlook poor Mocha and apply to adopt or foster her.  She really needs to get out of the kennel.

09/14/10 - Mocha

Mocha needs a new foster home or forever home that will give her the exercise and mental stimulation that this really smart girl needs.

08/26/10 - Update - Mocha is safe!

LOST BOXER - 08/25/2010 - AABR Mocha

Mocha is such a smart boxer, the foster dad woke up this morning to find Mocha waiting for him at his front door!!!!

Good girl Mocha!!!!!!!

Mocha is lost in Allentown PA!!!!

She was last seen at the intersection of Basin Street and Auburn.

She has a black collar on her but no tags.  She has only been at her foster home since this past Saturday, and slipped by her dog walker as she was being released from her leash after a walk today.

Volunteers are needed to search and post flyers... Please call number above to help!!!!!!

On catching lost dogs...

When dogs are lost, they are stressed out and scared.  It is much better to slip a "slip leash" over their head, rather than to grab and hold them by their collars.  Note: You can make a slip leash out of almost any leash by inserting the clip end of the leash through the handle, and using the resulting loop to put over their head.  Also, don't ever chase a loose dog.  Rather entice them with treats and walk or run in the opposite direction calling them to follow.

8/22/10 - Now in foster!

07/31/10

We had the pleasure of being with Mocha yesterday, to get to know her better.  She was as sweet as could be and very friendly. We had learned that she had been with other dogs at a dog sitter's house, and she got along with all (about 5) but one dog, who was on the dominant side.  So we introduced Mocha to Ava on a nice long walk and she did great! Mocha never showed anything but curiosity with Ava, and her little nub was waggin.

We also found out that at a trip to the vet to bring her UTD on vaccines and an exam before her surrender, poor Mocha had been suffering with a raging ear infection.  That may be part of the reason she wasn't that great with the toddlers in her old home.  Please, if your own dog's personality has changed at all, have them examined by your vet, before chalking it up to a behavior problem.

Mocha is waiting in a kennel for a chance to get her real forever home.  A home with good leadership and a nice submissive male companion would make her day!!!!

Do you have the right stuff?

7/22/10

Mocha 's owners were going to surrender her to a shelter. Her owners did bring in a trainer to help with Mocha and she was doing better, but unfortunately they were inconsistent and that was not good for Mocha. Mocha should be placed in an adult only home and a home that will dedicate the time to train her. Please consider giving this beautiful girl a second chance at a life in a loving, dedicated home. Apply to foster or adopt her.  A video is included below.

3/14/10 -

Mocha was adopted at two years old. With four young children in the home, her family couldn't offer her the guidance, exercise, or socialization that Mocha needed. Without these things, Mocha did not respect certain adults or children in the home and she tried to run the house.

Mocha's family love her very much, but they are unable to dedicate the time to work with her, so they have decided to try to find Mocha a new home. She needs a home with experienced dog owners that will have the time to give her proper guidance, exercise, and socialization.  With proper introductions, she may be able to live in a home with a submissive male dog. Please give Mocha a chance and apply today to adopt her.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
