4/11/11 Chance
will be remaining in his foster home.

Chance
has been living with us in our home for 13 months now and has really
mellowed in his time with us. Chance wants you to know the following about
him: I'm really looking for a fur-ever family to call my own. My foster
family loves me, but can only foster one dog at a time. If I stay, they
can't help another boxer transition to another home (and there's lots of
boxers that don't even have a foster family right now). I still love walks,
rides and playing ball and will play a waiting game in lieu of always
chasing after the ball. I even like to be pampered- getting my teeth
brushed, nails trimmed, and ears cleaned. I would do best in a home with
another large dog, probably best without cats as I like to chase things. I'm
looking for a strong leader who sets rules, keeps me challenged and
well-exercised... do you have the right stuff?

Good morning Dawn and Michele-
I wanted to include a couple of photos from the holiday of Chance and
his foster sister- too cute. My next email will be a photo of Chance
hanging out on his favorite chair taking a siesta.
Chance is still looking for someone to give him the opportunity at a
permanent home and family to call his own. He settles into the family
routine easily and is eager to please his family. Chance walks
extremely well on the leash and knows all of the basic commands (sit,
down, stay, roll over) and will do them regardless if he is on or off
leash and a treat is available or not.
Chance loves to run and play (I can't emphasize this enough)- he will
play ball past the point exhaustion if you allow it. He loves running
in the fenced in yard with his foster sister and has shown no signs of
wanting to jump our 4' fence. Within a couple hours of mealtime, the
two of them turn our living room into "Romper Room" and run and play
until they wear themselves out again. He loves to race through the
house, tossing toys in the air and catching them to attract attention
if nobody's in the room to when he's ready to play. Please consider
giving Chance a chance that he hasn't had for at least two years-- a
permanent home.

Update
- Holiday greetings from Chance! I know I'm a little early, but I figured
that I would let Santa and the elves know in plenty of time that I'm still
looking for a nice family to call my own. I've been living with my foster
family, including my big "sister" Gaia the Rottie, since July and it's a
really nice arrangement, however I'm dreaming of having my very own forever
family soon.
My forever family would be very active and love to go for long walks or
even runs as I am quite athletic and need the opportunity for not only the
exercise, but the leadership that comes along from the pack leader. I'm also
very bright, love to play ball, go for Jeep rides with the top down (and
seatbelt harness on) and meet new friends.
I need a good pack leader who is calm and assertive leader as I want to
please and do best with consistency. I am crate trained, but have
demonstrated that as long as there's not food laying around, I really can be
well-behaved while my humans are away at work. I'm fairly low-maintenance as
I'm already house and crate-trained-- consider me as part of your New Year's
resolution as I'll keep you in shape!

I just
wanted to let you know how much of a good boy Chance is... he has really
made himself at home here and has been having a great time since I brought
him over from Farm View last evening. I attached some cute shots that I took
last evening and this afternoon and Chance has the following to say to
potential adoptive families:
I'm so glad that I'm living up to my name-- this really nice couple has
given me the "Chance" to prove what a good boy I really am. You see, I've
lived in a kennel for the past one and a half years and even though the
people there were really nice and took great care of me, I've been longing
for a family to call my own. I even went to this cool boarding school where
I learned all of the proper ways a good boy should behave.
In the 24-hours that I've been in my foster home, I've pulled out all of
the stops to make sure that they know that I'm a keeper-- I get along
famously with the resident Rottie and don't bark much unless I want to get
her to play with me. I LOVE to play with her pink football and am thinking
of claiming it as my own!
I take a special kind of owner-- one who will set my boundaries and make
me stick to them. I'm a big boy and need to regain some of the weight I lost
at the kennel, but am having no problems with knowing what to do at
mealtime. I crate up nicely with a biscuit and my blanket and like to know
that I'm loved.
Won't you give me the chance to steal your heart too?

Update
-Are you ready to give Chance his chance at happiness? Chance completed his
K9 training and is ready for his forever home. Chance has been without a
family for too long.
Chance is a lovely boy who simply needs a strong leader, not for the
first time boxer owner. He is looking for someone to exercise his mind, body
and soul. Someone who will set rules, expect Chance to follow and correct
him if he forgets! Chances leader should be ready to handle this 100lbs.
boy.
Are you that leader? If so, please apply today for Chance and give this
great guy a happy ending!

Chance
is more than ready for his forever home... He is a big beautiful boxer that
would love an active home. He is obedience trained and ready to fit
into almost any pack with good leadership.
Chance is waiting for a lucky home to give him his second chance.

"Because of your
donations,
Taz
and me, Chance,
have been given a wonderful opportunity. We are currently attending K9
Working Dogs Academy in Whippany, NJ!"
Watch for our
updates!
03/10/07 -
Chance is a big boxer boy - 97 pounds and could
probably use another 5 - 7 pounds. After living on the streets for who
knows how long, then having to be separated from his best friend Mandy, then
having to live in a kennel until a foster home opened up, this boy appears
unfazed by all of it. He's confident, calm and extremely sweet. Chance
walks like a dream on lead and appears to have basic commands down pat -
come, sit, wait, down - all done without complaint. Because he was a stray,
and because he also likes to play rough, he can not go to a family with
young children. He's housebroken and loves to ride in the car. To complete
this package, Chance is absolutely beautiful!
If there is anything about Chance that you should know about, it's that
Chance should have been named Houdini - he's a masterful escape artist. He
escaped from his run at the kennel, and a number of other locked gates. So,
Chance's forever home must be aware at all times that picking locks and
jumping fences is a playful pastime for him. He will need to be trained to
respect fences and boundaries, and should not be left outside unsupervised.
There is always an open crate in Chance's foster home and Chance so far
prefers to sleep in his crate. Outside, Chance appears to be looking for
someone - possibly Mandy, possibly his old family. It's a little sad to
watch - he gets a far away look in his eyes. Little by little, with lots of
encouragement, those moments are happening less frequently. We're hoping
that Chance's forever family may have another non-dominant dog in their home
so that Chance can have someone to play with and help him look forward to
the future.
Chance is a wonderful, healthy boy that needs a home that will love him
forever. He deserves at least that. There is no doubt that this gentle
giant will bring love and happiness into your life.

Chance had a big adventure today. I knew from how
sweet and quiet this boy was that he was planning something. He never
barks or carries on like the others, just kind of sits and watches
everything going on around him. This morning I went to the kennel to take
care of breakfast, and I walked in and there's Mr. Chance running around
free as a bird inside the kennel. He had a good time for himself, had
investigated some bags of dog food, and found an open box of Milkbones and a
few toys!
The toys were scattered around, and he had found a
blanket and dragged it over in front of the heater. When I came in he
looked at me and proceeded to go into
Mandy's
open pen. Mandy was his "friend" who was lucky and now
gone to a foster home. Chance had pulled open the chain link on his gate
and made his grand escape.
He sat in Mandy's pen as innocent as could be. = )
He doesn't know what all the fuss is about, he's
such a good boy. Just looking for his forever home. He's so handsome,
and I can't be upset with him, Jim fixed the pen right away, hopefully, no
one else was paying attention as he was making his break out.
12/8/06 - Chance
Chance is a large white male. He was found walking the
streets with Mandy.
These two dogs were recently owned and safe. What
happens to these poor dogs. Do they run and get lost? Do people just
let them go? What I would give to have some history on these lost dogs. |
