UPDATE: 11/09/07 - Taz is in his forever home!!!

Taz has found a family to call his own.  The right applicant came along and was asked to go meet Taz.  It was love at first sight, and Taz's new family have promised to continue Taz's training and show him the good leadership Taz needs to relax and enjoy life.

5/6/07 - Taz

Meet Taz, a smart, compact young Boxer with a beautiful deep fawn coat.
Taz lost his home when his owners decided not to take him along when they moved. Since then, he has spent some time in kennels without the love and companionship that most of our own dogs enjoy every day and needs a little time to warm up when you first meet him. Taz appears to have been treated a little roughly at some point as he can show signs of worry if he feels threatened; though in the week that this sweet guy spent at our home he improved in leaps and bounds every day, showing a willingness to learn if treated with some respect and calmness. Right now he doesn't get along with all dogs; being a naturally strong minded, dominant type he played best with a young easy going male Pit bull and a similar Boxer female. He was a little too pushy for some of our other dogs, though with work and positive experiences we would hope that his social skills will improve. Taz is a good listener and loves to please you - he's happy when he knows that he got something right and he's very smart; he picks things up just like that! Once he learned the routine in our home, he was much more relaxed. He is crate trained and is happy to go in any time he is asked - particularly for a cookie or peanut butter filled Kong at bedtime!
The little guy tells me that he would love a home with a fenced yard with people who can be patient with him and not yell or be too pushy, just calm, consistent and have the confidence to be a good influence in helping him get his life back on track  and be more trusting. He would feel more comfortable in a calmer house without young children because they can be very unpredictable and loud and wave all kinds of strange things at dogs- he isn't quite ready for that yet.
In return, he says he will offer cuddles and kiss your cheek whenever you ask him and just be an all round good buddy. He'll be checking his AABR mailbox every day to see if you write to him......

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
