10/14/08 We lost
our beloved senior girl Rosie very unexpectedly today. I adored this
wonderful old "grandma" as we like to call her, and my heart is just broken.
In my eyes she was just beautiful, and her smile the biggest I have ever
seen. She was such a happy girl, and all she ever wanted was a kind word, a
gentle touch, and the chance to guard her yard which she took very
seriously. She didn't see or hear so well anymore, but that never stopped
her or slowed her down. Her joints creaked, and she always had runny eyes,
but when she smiled at you you couldn't help but smile back and give her a
bear hug and kiss on the head.
I will miss that beautiful smile, and the way she patrolled her yard
woofing away as if to let the world know she was still on the job. She was a
joy, and brought us all much love and laughter. It's just never going to be
the same here without her.
I love my dear sweet "Rosiebud"

Rosie
has arrived, and we are so glad that she has finally joined our foster
family. Her road through life up to this point has been pretty rough & we
have very little real history on Rosie, except for the fact that she was
found running along the highway about a year ago. She was fostered for a
time by another AABR family until a death in the family forced her to be
moved. Rosie was obviously very neglected prior to coming to AABR. Her ears
have permanent hematomas from ear infections that were left untreated. The
infections are all clear now, but the lumpy ears will be permanent.
Here's the good news! She is just a marvelous girl with tons of
personality. She came here after being the only dog in the household, and I
think was a little overwhelmed at first. We have
Fancy &
Eve here as well as my 2 dogs, a
cat & 2 birds. Eve and Fancy were so excited to meet Rosie that they got a
little carried away with their greeting, and Rosie let them know that she
would not tolerate such wild shenanigans! They completely got the point that
she was the boss, and immediately showed her the respect a senior girl
deserves.
It has been reported that she is not too fond of cats, so we're taking it
slow, but they have been face to face in a controlled situation and so far
so good. Rosie is also on a strict diet as she is severely overweight, and
somewhat arthritic. We're making sure she gets some good exercise every day,
and that should help her joints quite a bit. I really thought that she was
going to be just a pathetically sorry, tired old dog, but she has surprised
the heck out of me! Every morning she gets out of bed, totters down the
stairs, and then runs, yes I said RUNS through the house to the back door. I
almost fell over the first time she did it. She loves the yard, and patrols
the fence in search of potential intruders several times a day. She woofs as
she goes letting everyone know that she is on the job!
She seems to like all the neighborhood kids, and dogs. I think she is a
little deaf, but certainly not completely, and comes nub a wagging when
called. She still has quite a boxer wiggle going for her, and just loves a
good hug & cuddle. I can't wait to see how she looks when she gets her
girlish figure back. She's housetrained & crate trained, but is only being
crated during the day until I'm sure that she & the cat are on friendly
terms. She sleeps in her own bed at night.
Rosie is no spring chicken for sure, but she has far from used up all the
love she has to share. Won't you bring Rosie home and share in all that love
with your family? There is nothing in the world that will love you more, or
that will give you more joy than sharing your life with a WISE, GRATEFUL,
and LOVING girl named ROSIE!!

Rosie is a Sr boxer
that deserves better then this. Rosie was found walking along the side of a
road. What happened to Rosie's owner? How did this girl get lost? I
can't believe at this stage in her life that she is homeless. This must be
very hard on her?
Please open your home
up to this sweetheart. Rosie is up to date on shots. Rosie deserves a good
home. Rosie has still so much to offer, will fit in to most homes
easily, and she only wants to be loved and taken care of. |

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the
information on our
Adoption Procedures,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
